UK vs. US is part of Monte Carlo Poker Week 0001

Four of the top poker players from Europe and the U.S. will battle in a no-limit Texas Hold'em battle in the first ever Transatlantic Poker Cup next week.

Britain's "Hendon Mob" - Barny Boatman, Ram Vaswani, Joe Beevers and Ross Boatman - will represent the UK and face four of the best U.S. players, Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson and John Juanda, as part of the Monte Carlo Millions.

The Transatlantic Poker Cup will be televised at a future date.

"The Hendon Mob has so far taken on the best 4-man poker teams from Australia, France and Ireland and has beaten every one of them," said Barny Boatman. "Now we're ready for the greatest test of all as we take on America's finest for a $100,000 prize."

The Monte Carlo Millions, limited to 80 professional and amateur players, is being held at the world-famous Sporting d'Hiver in Monte-Carlo, Monaco from November 6-13.

Playing alongside the professionals is the French singer and actor Patrick Bruel, who joined the ranks of World Champions with his 1998 win at the World Series of Poker's Limit Hold'em event. A second place finish at the 2004 Five Star World Poker Classic earned him close to $100,000.

Eight of the players at the main event for a $1 million prize pool won their seats online at satellite tournaments through Prima Poker Network card rooms.

To top off the week, Matt Savage and his fiance, who met and fell in love at the 2002 World Series of Poker, will exchange wedding vows, to go "all-in" on the bet of a lifetime.
