Season Three World Poker Tour DVD Out
Hard to believe, but Christmas is only about six weeks away. With that in mind, and with Season Four going on as we speak, the fine people at the World Poker Tour have chosen now to ship out the "WPT: Best of Season Three" DVD collection. The four DVD set, priced for around $39.98, will be in your favorite local retail stores starting today.
Season Three was the true breakthrough season for the WPT. Fields were tremendous at every event and two new ones, the Mirage Poker Showdown at the Mirage in Las Vegas and the Doyle Brunson North American Poker Championship at the Bellagio, were added to fill out the sixteen tournament schedule. The sixteen events combined to generate over $70 million in payouts for the combatants on the felt, the largest year to date on the Tour, and it drove the total purses in the history of the WPT well over the $100 million mark.
It was also a season in which many of the professionals in the sport of poker showed the world how high stakes poker is played. Of the sixteen events that made up the schedule, seven of them were won by readily recognizable faces in the poker world including the "Godfather of Poker" Doyle Brunson, European professional Surinder Sunar, former World Champion Carlos Mortensen and Daniel Negreanu, who won two events on his way to becoming the 2005 WPT Player of the Year. Season Three also marked the explosion of some great young talent that we should be seeing for some time to come in Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi, Maciek "Michael" Gracz and double winner and WPT Championship victor Tuan Le (who also won the most money in Season Three).
The four DVD set is chocked full of the tournament action from Season Three that entranced viewers when it was first broadcast on the Travel Channel. While you may think you saw all the action on the television, the DVD's contain extra hands that didn't make it onto the broadcast, which should display the true skills and talents that it takes to compete at the highest levels of poker. It also contains a final tribute to the departed Shana Hiatt in the form of a "blooper reel" of some of her memorable miscues during her stay with the WPT and the "Poker Corner" tips that were broadcast each week of the WPT broadcasts on the Travel Channel.
If you have a poker fan on your Christmas list, there isn't a better gift that you could think of than the DVD's of the best of Season Three of the World Poker Tour. Along with the previous compilations of WPT competition, it not only allows for further study of the best players in the world, it also allows for a historical collection of the sport of poker in the 21st Century. Be sure to find Dad, Mom or Brother their copy of "World Poker Tour: Best of Season Three" in the stores starting today!
