Online Poker Weekend: Daniel 'Allanon85' Drescher Claims Stars Sunday Million 0001

For the second consecutive Sunday, the major online tournaments at PokerStars and Full Tilt fell just short of their announced guarantees, thereby offering a bit of extra money for the players that did make it to the fun. Despite the small overlays, massive fields vied it out for the events' six-figure first-place prizes. Daniel "Allanon85" Drescher and FadinAway emerged as the victors to cap an exciting day of tournament poker.

PokerStars Sunday Million

The PokerStars Sunday Million drew a field of 7,245 participants, not quite enough to reach its $1.5 million guarantee. Among the best finishes were Tracey "XTraCey" Nguyen in 26th place ($3,000), Mark "RandALLin" Flowers in 29th place ($2,700), and Brian "SNo0oWMAN" Hawkins in 78th place ($2,100).

The chip counts at the start of the final table were as follows:

forza-guti - 20,452,649

insanocut - 11,732,370

Soren "Kongsgaard" Kongsgaard - 10,482,856

cdbr3799 - 7,555,840

tnapoleao - 5,747,738

aty79 - 5,746,206

Daniel "Allanon85" Drescher - 4,027,610

Smith "sjco22" Collins - 3,823,426

Tyler9897 - 2,881,305

Smith "sjco22" Collins was the first to hit the rail. With blinds of 250,000/500,000 and a 50,000 ante. Collins' last 2,743,426 chips went all in preflop with K?10? against Allanon85's A?J?. The board brought no help to Smith, as he earned $10,500 for the ninth-place effort. Tyler9897 was the next to go after moving all in from the button for 2,721,305 with A?J?. Soren Kongsgaard woke up with Q?Q? in the big blind. The flop brought a third queen for Kongsgaard, eliminating Tyler9897 in eighth for $17,250.

Seventh place was determined on one of those hands that one just cannot do anything about. Under the gun, tnapoleao opened to 1,111,111 and saw insanocut move all in for 11,544,594. Then from the big blind, aty79 called all in for 6,986,206. With action back to tnapoleao, his remaining 3,656,627 went in with K?K?, but was still in dire straits against aty79's A?A?. To make matters worse, tnapoleao was drawing to one less out, seeing insanocut's A?K? in play as well. The board came out 8?5?4?2?J?, shipping a pot of over 20,000,000 to aty79. Tnapoleao took home $26,250 for his run.

Insanocut was the next to be felted. With blinds and antes now at 300,000/600,000/60,000, insanocut moved all in from the button for 4,178,388 and from the small blind, Soren Kongsgaard shoved all in over the top to isolate the action. Kongsgaard's A?K? dominated insanocut's K?6?. The board rolled out 2?8?4?10?Q?, sending insanocut home in sixth place for $39,000. forza-guti entered the final as the leader but was unable to build upon it and finished the tournament in fifth. Down to 3,465,725, forza-guti moved all in under the gun with A?J? and was called by Daniel "Allanon85" Drescher's 3?3?. The 8?Q?J? flop gave forza-guti the lead and the 9? turn card kept it that way, but Drescher was quite happy to see the 3? hit the river and give him the pot. Forza-guti collected $54,000 for fifth. Four-handed play saw Daniel "Allanon85" Drescher's A?J? double up through cdbr3799's A?Q? when a jack fell on the turn and set the stage for the remainder of the tournament.

Prior to the next elimination, the chip counts were these:

Daniel "Allanon85" Drescher - 36,901,592

aty79 - 14,850,365

Soren "Kongsgaard" Kongsgaard - 10,702,945

cdbr3799 - 9,995,098

Soren Kongsgaard finished in fourth place for $69,000, after the blinds and antes reached the 400,000/800,000/80,000 level. From the cutoff, Kongsgaard pushed all in for 10,622,945 and saw chip leader Daniel "Allanon85" Drescher reshove. The blinds folded and the hands were revealed 2?2? for Kongsgaard and J?J? for Drescher. A third jack fell on the flop, eliminating Kongsgaard.

A deal was worked out with the three players remaining guaranteeing each these numbers:

Daniel "Allanon85" Drescher - $147,450

aty79 - $109,000

cdbr3799 - $107,000

The standard $30,000 was remained for the winner to claim. The action was fast following the arranged deal and quickly left cdbr3799 on the rail in third. From the small blind, cdbr3799 moved all in for 7,595,089 with Q?5? and Daniel "Allanon85" Drescher called from the big blind with K?7?. The board rolled out 4?7?2?8?3?, sending cdbr3799 home with $107,000.

Heads-up play saw Drescher begin with nearly a 5-to-1 chip lead. Though aty79 managed to double up once, it was not enough. The blinds and antes had moved to 500,000/1,000,000/100,000 when Aty79 made it 3,000,000 from the button and Drescher called from the big blind, bringing a flop of 2?K?6?. Drescher check-called a bet of 3,000,000 leading to the 5? turn card. This time Drescher check-raised Aty79's bet of 9,000,000, moving all in. Aty79 called all in for his tournament life and showed K?8? but was out-kicked by Drescher's K?J?. The river came the 2? and aty79 finished as the runner-up for $109,000.

The winner of the PokerStars Sunday Million was Daniel "Allanon85" Drescher. He navigated his way up the leader board, with a combination of solid play and a little luck, to a $177,450 payday. The final results:

*1. Daniel "Allanon85" Drescher - $177,450

*2. aty79 - $109,000

*3. cdbr3799 - $107,000

4. Soren "Kongsgaard" Kongsgaard - $69,000

5. forza-guti - $59,000

Full Tilt $750,000 Guaranteed

The Full Tilt $750,000 Guaranteed drew 3,572 entrants, with first place awarding $132,787.50. Notable finishes included spyhard in 11th place ($7,200), Jeff "HB_HITMAN" Anderson in 22nd place ($2,775), and Christian "da_professional" Iacobellis in 45th place ($1,763), Tony "DrunkPPlaya" in 53rd ($1,387.50), Tony "Bond 18" Dunst in 68th ($1,125) and Russell "rdcrsn" Carson in 85th ($900). The chip counts to start the final table were as follows:

FadinAway - 2,287,844

Dstemrich - 1,964,914

TheDirrty - 1,789,361

Corporations - 1,181,252

Kisso - 1,177,688

Matteo02 - 964,109

crazychicken - 529,591

TheAsianVampire - 442,675

Chris "MarvinGarden" Birchby - 378,566

The first to go was short-stacked Chris "MarvinGarden" Birchby. With blinds and antes at the 25,000/50,000/6,000 level, Birchby moved all in for 255,566 and TheAsianVampire moved all in over the top from the small blind, prompting a fold from the big blind. The AsianVampire's A?8? caught a turned ace against Birchby's Q?10? to seal the deal, busting Chris "MarvinGarden" Birchby in ninth place for $10,050. Once the blinds were raised to 30,000/60,000 and an ante of 7,500, Matteo02 fell. From the button, Matteo02 moved all in for 426,518 with KsTd and FadinAway isolated the action with A?9?. The board came 7?4?3?6?Q? and Matteo02 earned $13,500 for eighth. Crazychicken was sent back to the coop next after moving all in preflop for 557,382 with 4?3? and finding a call from the big blind by Dstemrich, holding Big Slick. The 4?2?7? flop put crazychicken in the lead but the K? on the turn took it away. The 10? river card ended the tournament for crazychicken, who finised in seventh place for $17,250.

Corporations are having issues throughout the country, and it was much the same at the final table. With the blinds at 40,000/80,000 and an ante of 10,000, "Corporations" experienced negative returns with pocket kings. From middle position, Corporations raised to 199,000 and FadinAway moved all in for over four million from the small blind. Corporations called all in, revealing K?K?, and was ahead of FadinAway's 9?9?. The board rolled out 5?2?J?9?Q? and Corporations went into de-felt, finishing in sixth place for $23,025. After blinds were raised to 50,000/100,000/10,000, Kisso was all in for 1,253,376 with K?K? against TheAsianVampire's A?5?. The board came out 8?7?6?Q?A?, claiming another victim for TheAsianVampire. Kisso took home $31,050 for fifth place.

TheAsianVampire, though, was the next to exit. The blinds and antes had moved to the 60,000/120,000,15,000 level when TheAsianVampire made it 300,000 to go from the button and TheDirrty raised all in from the big blind for nearly 3,000,000. TheAsianVampire called all in for 1,922,443 9?9? and was racing against TheDirrty's A?Q?. The board delivered K?10?4?7?Q?, the river queen sending a fourth-place payday of $41,400 to TheAsianVampire.

The chip counts at the start of three-handed play were as follows:

TheDirrty - 5,170,165

FadinAway - 3,547,243

Dstemrich - 1,998,592

Dstemrich could not overcome his short-stack status and finished in third. All in for 1,318,592, Dstemrich's 2?2? squared off against FadinAway's K?Q?. The 8?A?J? flop gave FadinAway a straight draw, and the 10? on the turn made the Broadway for straight, felting Dstemrich in third for $52,500.

Heads-up play began with these chip counts:

TheDirrty - 6,195,165

FadinAway - 4,520,835

The battle lasted for a little while, but in the end FadinAway surged to the win. The blinds and antes were at the 100,000/200,000/25,000 level as the last hand played out. Down to 2,314,330, TheDirrty moved all in; FadinAway called quickly with 4?4? but needed a lot of help against TheDirrty's A?A?. The K?8?K? flop kept TheDirrty in the lead but the 4? hit the turn, giving FadinAway a full house. The river 7? missed TheDirrty's last outs, leaving him with the runner-up spot for $80,250. FadinAway combined an aggressive style with a little luck en route to a first-place payday of $132,787.50. The final results:

1. FadinAway - $132,787.50

2. TheDirrty - $80,250

3. Dstemrich - $52,500

4. TheAsianVampire - $41,400
