Online Poker Weekend: 'stoledog', '007Paghman' Triumphant 0001

More big turnouts marked the first weekend of 2009 as both PokerStars and Full Tilt again topped their announced guarantees in the biggest Sunday online poker events. In a contrast to recent weeks, however, relative unknowns dominated the final tables. Here's how the biggest events, the PokerStars Sunday Million and the Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee, played out:

PokerStars Sunday Million

The PokerStars Sunday Million attracted 8,504 entrants for a total prize pool of $1,700,800. Notable finishers falling short of the final table included backmanlivs in 24th place ($3,401.60), Mike "Sowerss" Sowers in 65th ($2,551.20) and Matt "All_in_at420" Stout in 73rd place ($2,381.12). The chip counts to start the final table were the following:

stoledog - 21,146,264

jayvedo - 18,089,056

bukithepro - 13,340,694

USA_20080920 - 9,613,727

aceskay - 7,758,953

The Midget - 4,759,579

simon1471 - 4,366,848

Prom Queens - 3,671,199

Fold Phish - 2,293,680

The first to depart the final table was Fold Phish at the 150,000/300,000/30,000 level. On the button, Fold Phish shoved for 2,263,680 with A?9? and was called by jayvedo in the big blind with A?10?. The board ran out K?5?7?3?5? and Fold Phish was out in ninth place for $11,905.60. Aceskay busted a few hands later. From the cutoff, aceskay shipped it in for 1,967,754 with 9?8? and jayvedo again called in the big blind, this time while holding A?9?. An ace on the turn sealed the deal and aceskay was out in eighth for $19,559.20. Just before the end of the level, Prom Queens opened to 800,000 under the gun and, next to act, The Midget reraised all in for 4,069,589 with 8?8?. Prom Queens called and showed, what else, Q?Q?. The board came 2?7?A?9?6? and The Midget was sent off in seventh place for $29,764.

Simon1471 was the lone casualty at 200,000/400,000/40,000. Down to 1,947,697, simon1471's tournament life was at stake with A?4? against bukithepro's Q?7?. The board came J?10?7?K?K? to pair bukithepro's seven as simon1471 finished sixth for $42,520. At 250,000/500,000/50,000, stoledog opened to 1,299,999 on the button and bukithepro called from the small blind, leading to a 3?2?10? flop. Bukithepro led out with a bet of 2,650,000 and stoledog raised all in with the bigger stack. After a little thought, bukithepro called all in with K?Q? and was up against stoledog's A?K?. The turn and river came 9? and A?, no help to bukithepro who finished in fifth place for $59,528. Jayvedo departed next. On the button, jayvedo raised to 2,000,000 and Prom Queens pushed it up to 4,500,000 in the big blind. Jayvedo then shoved for 19,658,513 with A?Q?, but saw Prom Queens snap-call and show K?K?. The board ran out Q?9?6?K?4? and jayvedo was out the next hand in fourth place for $76,536.

The final three players then struck a deal, guaranteeing each the following paydays:

stoledog - $150,793.55

Prom Queens - $150,000

USA_20080920 - $108,182.93

Prom Queens departed next. With blinds and antes at 300,000/600,000/60,000, Prom Queens opened to 1,500,000 on the button and stoledog reraised to 4,999,999 from the small blind. Prom Queens then went all in for 15,909,720 and stoledog quickly called with Q?Q?, leading Prom Queens' A?J?. The board rolled out Q?9?J?10?2? and Prom Queens was out of the dance in third place for $150,000. At the start of heads-up play, the chip counts were as follows:

USA_20080920 - 47,302,908

stoledog - 37,737,092

The match lasted nearly an entire level before stoledog emerged victorious at 400,000/800,000/80,000. Stoledog opened to 2,400,000 and USA_20080920 min raised to 4,000,000, which stoledog called. The flop came 6?9?A? and USA_20080920 fired out 5,000,000. Stoledog then raised enough to set USA_20080920 all in, who called with A?3? and led stoledog's 10?9?. The J? turn kept USA_20080920 in the lead, but the 10? fell on the river and stoledog took in the pot with two pair. USA_20080920 finished as the runner-up, earning $108,182.93, while the winner of the PokerStars Sunday Million was stoledog for $180,793.55.

Final Results:

Blackbeanbun was the next to exit at that level. From middle position, blackbeanbun shoved for 156,218 with A?10?, but ran into king silas' A?K? in the big blind. King silas was dethroned at 40,000/80,000/10,000. From middle position, king silas shoved for 583,759 with K?J? and found action from 007Paghman in the cutoff with A?8?. The board came Q?J?6?Q?7? and BeNzitO85 was out, earning $32,358.24 for fifth place. Brian "chickensalad" Burney was felted as well during that level of play. Down to 818,515, he shoved with Q?J? in the cutoff, but was called by coach257 from the big blind, who showed A?J?. No queen appeared and Burney's tournament came to end in fourth place for $43,144.32.

At 60,000/120,000/15,000, coach257 and 007Paghman squared off in a coin flip that had 007Paghman at risk with A?K? against coach257's 6?6?. The board ran out 2?J?2?A?3? as the 6,521,750 pot went to 007Paghman and put coach257 on the edge with just two big blinds left. Three hands later, coach257 was out of the game with $54,712 in third-place money.

007Paghman began heads-up play with a slight chip lead and went on to claim the victory. The final hand saw WPChaser all in with K?5? against 007Paghman's A?7?.
