'durrrr Challenge' Update: Antonius Takes Lead with $161,000 Session 0001

Tom "durrrr" Dwan and Patrik Antonius were at it again on Friday night, logging another 425 hands in their 50,000-hand challenge match. With the $161,086 he won in this session, Antonius took the overall lead, now being up $107,445 on Dwan over the life of the challenge. The two only played for 82 minutes during this go-around, as Dwan encountered a problem all online poker players experience from time to time his internet connection was on the fritz, and in a game this big, a disconnection could potentially cost him tens of thousands.

Antonius jumped out to an almost immediate lead, picking up this pot within the first few minutes of play. Dwan made a pre-flop raise to $1,200 and Antonius called. The Finn checked the J?5?3? flop, Dwan bet $1,750, and Antonius came in with a check-raise to $7,650. Dwan called. The Q? landed on the turn and Antonius led out for $17,700. Dwan moved all in for $31,350 and Antonius made the call, showing A?6?4?2? for straight and flush draws while Dwan revealed A?6?5?5? for a set of fives. The 7? on the river made Antonius a seven-high straight, however, and he collected the $80,399 pot.

Only minutes later the two had another major confrontation, Dwan opening for $1,200 and Antonius calling. Antonius bet out on the J?5?4? flop and Dwan called. Both players checked the 10? on the turn, but the J? on the river was the catalyst for some big action. Antonius bet $5,600, Dwan raised to $19,300, Antonius reraised to $41,600 and after a lengthy stint in the tank, Dwan made the call. That river card made Antonius the nut boat with J?10?10?4? and he raked in $90,399.

The session's largest hand came late in the session. Antonius opened for $1,200, Dwan three-bet to $3,600 and Antonius came along with a call. Dwan bet out $4,800 on the Q?6?5? flop, Antonius raised to $21,600, Dwan reraised to $72,000, Antonius moved in for $118,536 and Dwan called. Both had hit a piece of the flop, Dwan with J?9?8?7? for straight and flush draws and Antonius with J?8?6?5? for two pair and a higher flush draw. The J? on the turn gave Antonius jacks up and the 4? on the river improved his hand to a queen-high flush and he took down the $155,683 pot.

Thus far, the two have logged 5,517 of the 50,000 challenge hands, Dwan laying claim to 3,010 pots and Antonius winning 2,487. A mind-boggling $31,340,380 has been wagered thus far between the two over 17 hours of play. Stay tuned to PokerNews for continuing updates on this battle royale.
