Action in the PokerStars All-Stakes Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) resumed on Saturday with, among other offerings, Event #19-Hi, $5,200 Pot-Limit Omaha. 190 players were on hand, with the total purse falling just short of the $1,000,000 guarantee and leaving a small overlay in place. Notable players cashing but missing the final included Ivan Demidov in 12th place ($17,500), Daniel "steamraise" Alaei in 13th ($15,000) and David "RugDoctor" Williams in 15th ($15,000). The chip counts as the final table started were as follows:
David "WhooooKidd" Baker 182,200
caprioli 180,094
Eric "p3achy_keen" Liu 132,428
Thomas "Viking79" Wahlroos 93,392
Chad "lilholdem954" Batista 92,056
BobbyFi 89,172
Altrum Altus 85,975
Brian "aba20" Townsend 70,401
Sorel "zangbezan24" Mizzi 24,282
Sorel "zangbezan24" Mizzi was the first player bounced from the final, during the 800/1,600 level. Down to his last 12,082, Mizzi was all in with Q?J?10?9? against David "WhooooKidd" Baker's A?J?10?8?. The board fell 8?5?2?3?K? as Baker's pair of eights were good enough to win the pot and eliminate Mizzi in ninth place for $20,000. Chad "lilholdem954" Batista was the next to exit, at 1,250/2,500. Eric "p3achy_keen" Liu raised to 6,000 under the gun and received calls from Batista, Brian "aba20" Townsend and caprioli. The flop came Q?3?9? and a raising war between Townsend and Batista ensued. It would be Townsend's tournament life at risk with Q?9?K?10? against Batista's K?10?8?7?. The 4? fell on the turn as Batista made a flush, but Townsend filled up on the river when the Q? hit. Batista busted the next hand in eighth place for $30,000.
Eric "p3achy_keen" Liu hit the rail later in the level. On a 9?10?7? board, Liu got it in with A?A?8?3? but trailed David "WhooooKidd" Baker's 10?9?J?6?. The turn and river came 9? and 8? as Baker made a full house for the knockout. Liu collected $40,0000 for seventh. Brian "aba20" Townsend was felted in the next level, 1,500/3,000. He raised to 8,000 on the button and Baker called, leading to a 9?10?A? flop. Baker led out 13,850, but Townsend raised to 59,050. Baker then re-raised to 194,650 and Townsend went all in for just a little bit more, 255,121. A call from Baker revealed A?A?8?6? for a set of aces, while Townsend tabled K?6?K?6? for the nut flush draw. The turn was the 9?, making a winning full house for Baker and eliminating Townsend in sixth place for $50,000.
Thomas "Viking79" Wahlroos was eliminated next. Baker raised to 8,000 in the cutoff and Wahlroos called. The flop fell 5?3?Q? and Wahlroos check-raised from 12,850 to 56,050. Baker re-raised and tried to set Wahlroos all in. Wahlroos indeed called with 9?7?5?4? for middle pair and some draws, while Baker held A?3?Q?4? for top pair and draws. The turn was the 10?, keeping Baker in the lead, and the river was the K? to make both players a flush, but Baker's nut flush took the pot. Wahlroos pocketed $60,000 for the fifth-place finish. Next, Altrum Altus headed home during the 2,000/4,000 level. On the button, Baker raised to 11,000, and Altrum Altus re-raised to 37,000 from the small blind. Baker called and the flop came 4?5?6?. Altrum Altus went all in for 69,050 and Baker called with A?Q?10?4? for bottom pair and the nut flush draw. With his K?K?5?2? Altrum Altus was ahead, but the Q? turn gave Baker a leading two pair. The river was the J? and Altrum Altus' tournament was over in fourth place for $87,500.
BobbyFi busted shortly thereafter when, after a flop of 10?J?2?, he went all in with K?10?9?8? against Baker's 9?8?7?4?. The 8? hit the turn and made a straight for Baker, leaving BobbyFi drawing thin. The river was the 3? and and BobbyFi pocketed $117,500 for the third-place showing. Baker had a commanding lead against caprioli as heads-up play began:
David "WhooooKidd" Baker 762,337
caprioli 187,663
It didn't take long for Baker to bust his seventh opponent at the final table and seal the victory. A limped pot brought a J?6?5? flop and caprioli check-called Baker's 6,250 bet. The turn brought the Q?, caprioli checked, Baker bet 16,450, and caprioli check-raised to 68,000. Baker raised again to force caprioli to a choice for his tournament life, and caprioli called all in with 6?6?9?7? and a set of sixes. However, Baker tabled Q?Q?9?7? for the turned set of queens. The river 4? blanked and gave Baker the hand and the win in SCOOP Event #19-Hi, worth $215,000, with caprioli collecting $155,000 as the runner-up.
