The Bicycle Casino Wheels Out New Event Center
WSOP bracelet winnersJohn Phan, Men "The Master" Nguyen, Jennifer Harman, and Mark Seif have all called Southern Californias Bicycle Casino their home away from home at some point in their careers. Doyle Brunson and Dan Harrington won their first World Poker Tour titles under its roof, while some of poker's great women including Clonie Gowen, Isabelle Mercier, and J.J. Liu stepped out of obscurity and onto the world stage at the Bike's televised WPT Ladies' Night events. Revered by pros and amateurs alike for its friendly atmosphere, if there ever was a drawback to playing a tournament at the Bike, it was a lack of space. However, with the grand opening of the newBicycle Casino Event Center, those concerns are a thing of the past.
The Event Center's 50-table Grand Poker Ballroom was unveiled at a charity tournament on July 29th, coinciding with the first event of the Bike's signature tournament series, the Legends of Poker, which will culminate in a $10,000 buy-in World Poker Tour event later this month. This year, the televised final table will comfortably play out inside the Event Center, rather than in an area ringed with black-out curtains and topped with a lighting rig smack in the center of the cash game area as it had in years past.
"We've had an amazing poker facility here for a long time," said Bicycle Casino Director of Marketing, Kelley O'Hara, "but with this newly-expanded and luxurious Event Center, we now step to the head of the class for not only Southern California, but the country."
Players will also be relieved to hear that the Bike's (fantastic) tableside dining options will be available in the Grand Poker Ballroom, along with new menu options from the just-opened Legends Deli & Grill.
If youre in the Los Angeles area, check out the new and improved Bike for yourself and play in one of the Legends of Poker events running through the end of August. On tap for this weekend is a $335 buy-in, $200,000 guaranteed no-limit holdem tournament with 10,000 in starting chips and 40 minute levels. With a massive turnout expected, there are two scheduled starting days, Friday August 14th and Saturday August 15th at 3pm.
