European Poker Tour Prague Day 2: Yann Brosolo Leads the Way to Day 3
More than two-thirds of the 328 Day 2 starters fell by the wayside, as six levels saw the field decimated to just 95. Frenchman Yann Brosolo, however, already a big stack, emerged as chip leader by knocking out a qualifier with a set of jacks against aces. By the end of play, he had amassed 574,000 and goes into Day 3 as the comfortable chip leader.
Marc Gork, who led the field at the beginning of the day, saw his stack dwindle until he busted out before the end of the day. This despite having managed to change to sensible clothes after showing up first in his hotel-issue bathrobe and slippers.
Jeff Sarwer looked like he was going to have a good day when he doubled through Nicolas Levi, both players flopping a flush, but Sarwer with the higher one. His stack dwindled, however, while Levi's recovered, and Levi eventually doubled back through him. Reduced to shrapnel, Sarwer exited soon after.
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier was already on a downward slide when he smacked A? J? into Rui Cao's pocket aces to hit the rail. Others who failed to make the Day 3 grade were Katja Thater, Thierry van den Berg, Marcel Luske, Noah Boeken, and both the Greenwood brothers, Luc and Max.
Now, with Brosolo in the chip lead, it's "vive la France" as he approaches the money with fellow Frenchman Rui Cao, who held on to his second-place position (522,500 chips) going into tomorrow.
Close on the heels of the top two are EPT Grand Final winner and Team PokerStars Pro Pieter de Korver, with Kristoffer Edberg, EPT San Remo finalist Kalle Niemi, Antony Lellouche and Luca Pagano all holding threatening numbers of chips.
With 95 runners left and 80 places paying out, tomorrow looks like it's going to be a pretty crazy day.
