Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure Day 4: D'Angelo Decimates The Competition
Day 4 of the 2010 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event began on Saturday at 12:00 noon with 62 players and by days end, the field had whittled down to just 24.
A stormy day outside on Paradise Island proved just as gloomy inside the Imperial Ballroom at Atlantis Resort for the 40 players who were eliminated throughout the day. For Ryan DAngelo, however, the Day 4 forecast was sunny with a 100 percent chance of run-good.
The two-time WCOOP bracelet winner took over the chip lead early in the day and never relinquished it, eventually bagging a field-leading 7,483,000 in chips. DAngelo knocked out the likes of Jake Toole, Hafiz Khan, Mike Chappus and Roger Teska, among others, finishing the day as the only player with more than six million in chips.
EPT founder and Team PokerStars Pro John Duthie also had a day worth writing home about, bagging an impressive 5,304,000 in chips. Duthie enters Day 5 play second in chips, a little more than two million behind DAngelo. The two big stacks were seated at the same table all day but stayed out of each others way for the most part.
The pivotal hand for Duthie came late in the day with the elimination of Kent Lundmark. Duthie flopped two pair holding 8?7? while Lundmark held pocket aces. The two got it all-in on the flop and Duthie had Lundmark covered by just 6,000 in chips. That hand hoisted Duthie to 4.6 million in chips and helped him become the only Team PokerStars Pro to reach Day 5.
Duthies team members Florian Langmann and Johnny Lodden, the only other Team PokerStars Pros to reach Day 4, both fell to the wayside. Joining them on the rail were noted pros Dean Hamrick, Amit Makhija, Huck Seed, Amanda Baker, Soren Kongsgaard, Eric Froehlich, Peter Feldman, Jonathan Aguiar, Liz Lieu and Bill Gazes.
Tune in Sunday at 12:00 p.m. local time for PokerNews continued coverage of the 2010 PokerStars.net PCA Main Event, live from Atlantis Resort in The Bahamas.
