The Borgata Winter Poker Open concluded Day 4 of play on Thursday night after 37 players returned to play at the beginning of the day. When it was all said and done, only the final ten remained to move on to the final table on Friday. Heading the field will be Vadm Shlez with 4.406 million in chips.

Shlez was able to accumulate chips and eliminate a very tough competitor when he busted Jack Schanbacher in 12th place. Schnbacher had moved all in with pocket nines and Shlez held the AxKx. An ace flopped to give Shelz the lead and from there, his hand held up to send Schanbacher out the door with a payday of $28,729.

World Series of Poker bracelet winners Gavin Smith and Jeff Papola were both back in action on Thursday, but neither of them were able to find their way to the final table.

Smith reraised all in for 580,000 after Pat Carney kicked things off with a raise. Carney made the call and tabled the Q?Q?. Smith held just one overcard with the A?6?, but he was suited. The flop came down paired with the 9?9?8? hitting the felt. Not much was there for Smith, but the turn brought him a flush draw with the J? to give him a glimmer of hope. The river completed the board with a spade, but it was the 9? and gave Carney a full house. Smith was eliminated in 21st place and took home $12,181.

A few of the other players to hit the rail throughout the day were Day 3 chip leader and last woman standing Roz Quarto (23rd place). Day 4 chip leader Or Abramov (24th place) was also eliminated as was Richard Lyndaker (35th place).
