The Online Railbird Report: Millar, "wilhasha" & Jorgensen Take to the Virtual Felt
Since the start of the 2012 World Series of Poker, the online high-stakes cash games on PokerStars have been dominated by the likes of wilhasha, Alex Kanu7 Millar, Theo Theo J Jorgensen and EireAbu.
All of those players were back in action this past week, all but one finding success. Millar turned out to be the weeks biggest winner after banking $300,596 in 3,241 hands spread across 22 sessions. Rounding out the top three was Jorgensen (+$262,008 in 4,797 hands in 45 sessions) and EireAbu (+$217,111 10,573 hands in 99 sessions).
That means wilhasha, who was last weeks biggest winner, actually booked a loss this week. He dropped a modest $88,700 in 8,635 hands across 55 sessions. Of course there were bigger losers this week including Rob Vaga_Lion Akery (-$182,623 in 51 sessions/2,478 hands), patpatman (-$173,077 in 16 sessions/1,256 hands), Phil takechip DAuteuil (-$127,587 in 16 sessions/2,288 hands) and Phisherman36 (-$95,252 in 21 sessions/2,755 hands).
wilhasha Takes on patpatman & Kanu7 in Weekend Action
Last weekend, the high-stakes games were headlined by wilhasha, who took on patpatman at $100/$200 no-limit holdem on Saturday. The former ended up the days biggest winner, profiting $142,000, while the latter dropped $114,000.
In the biggest pot between the two, wilhasha ($40,086.76) opened for $400 and then called a three-bet to $1,700 from patpatman, ($38,926.80). The 5?10?9? flop saw wilhasha call a bet of $2,038.79 before both players checked the 7? turn.
When the 4? appeared on the river, patpatman check-raised all-in after wilhasha bet $5,606.69. A call was made, creating a pot worth $77,852, and patpatman tabled A?Q?, which was no good against the Q?10? of wilhasha.
It was a good night for wilhasha, but he no doubt wishes he had left it at that instead of returning on Sunday. Thats when he took on Alex Kanu7 Millar, playing 2,707 hands at both $50/$100 and $100/$200 NLHE. Over the course of the day, wilhasha dropped $299,000 to Millar, making him far and away the days biggest loser. Likewise, Millar was the biggest winner after banking $302,000 on the day.
In Sundays biggest hand, which happened at a $100/$200 table, wilhasha ($58,333.18) raised to $500 on the button and was met with a three-bet to $1,900 by Millar ($72,567.27). Not to be outdone, wilhasha four-bet $4,900, Millar called, and the flop came down A?J?3?. Millar proceeded to check-call a bet of $2,800 before checking the 2? turn.
Wilhasha took the opportunity to bet $6,300, but Millar sprung to life with a check-raise to $15,800. Wilhasha made the call and then called off his last $34,833.18 when Millar shoved the 10? river. The latter rolled over J?J? for a set of jacks but discovered hed been coolered in the $116,664 pot when wilhasha revealed A?A? for a bigger flopped set.
Despite that win, wilhasha had a horrendous day at the table and showed waning interest in his rivalry with Millar when he hinted in the chat box that he may take a break after suffering such a hefty loss.
Jorgensen, wilhasha & Sulsky are Mondays Biggest Winners
On Monday, Theo Theo J Jorgensen played a little over 1,500 hands of $50/$100 pot-limit Omaha six-max, winning $179,000 in the process. In his biggest hand, action was six-handed when ricky17 ($22,215) opened for $200 from the hijack, EireAbu ($10,445) three-bet to $700 from the small blind, and Jorgensen ($24,623) four-bet to $2,300 from the big. Ricky17 responded by five-betting $7,800, EireAbu got out of the way, and Jorgensen made it $23,500 to go. Ricky17 called off his remaining $14,415 and the cards were turned on their backs.
Showdown
ricky17 | A?A?Q?4? |
Jorgensen | A?A?J?K? |
It was an aces-versus-aces situation, though theyd be rendered useless when the board ran out 5?3?10?8?9? to give Jorgensen an ace-high flush and the $45,125 pot.
Joining Jorgensen as a winner, albeit with $132,000, was wilhasha, who rebounded a bit after Sundays big loss by playing 1,590 hands of $50/$100 NLHE against Phil takechip DAuteuil. In their biggest hand, DAuteuil ($32,791.50) was on the button and raised to $250, which wilhasha ($28,280.79) quickly three-bet to $850. DAuteuil responded with a four-bet to $1,950, and wilhasha called before check-calling a bet of $1,350 on the 5?9?10? flop.
Wilhasha check-called another bet, this time $4,650, on the 2? turn, and then check-called off his stack of $20,330.79 on the 7? river. DAuteuil showed A?Q? for ace high, but it was no good against the A?10? of wilhasha, who was more than happy to rake in the $56,560 pot.
Also in action on Monday, Ben Sauce123 Sulsky played heads-up $50/$100 PLO against EireAbu and walked away an $83,000 winner. In their most notable hand, Sulsky ($46,984) raised to $200 on the button, EireAbu ($16,750) called, and the flop fell 10?3?3?.
From there, EireAbu check-raised Sulskys $200 bet up to $700, but Sulsky responded with a three-bet to $1,800. EireAbu then four-bet $4,000, Sulsky five-bet $7,000, EireAbu six-bet $11,500, and Sulsky called, bringing about the A? turn. EireAbu then moved all-in for his last $5,050 and Sulsky called.
Showdown
EireAbu | 10?10?J?2? |
Jorgensen | A?3?3?6? |
EireAbu no doubt thought he was going to win the $33,500 pot with a flopped full house, but that wasnt the case as Sulsky flopped the one hand that could beat him quads! However, EireAbu could still win with a ten on the river, but it wasnt in the cards as the 7? bricked.
Tuesday Treats EireAbu Kind; wilhasha Books Yet Another Loss
EireAbu was busy adding another $184,000 to his yearly profits on Tuesday, doing so in 1,978 hands of $50/$100 PLO against the likes of Rob Vaga_Lion Akery (-$127,000), Phisherman36 (-$95,000) and Ben Sauce123 Sulsky (-$92,000), all of whom finished among the top four losers of the day.
Interestingly, the second biggest pot of the day (the biggest was a chopped pot) didnt even involve EireAbu. Instead, it happened at a $50/$100 PLO table when Phisherman36 ($177,338.16) opened for $340 only to have Sulsky ($56,239.19) three-bet to $1,060. The betting didnt stop there as Phisherman36 four-bet $3,220, Sulsky five-bet $9,700, and Phisherman36 called. The 10?5?7? flop saw Sulsky lead out for $19,438 and then call off his last $27,101.20 when Phisherman36 raised to $77,752.
Showdown
Sulsky | K?K?8?8? |
Phisherman36 | 5?6?2?4? |
Phisherman36 flopped a pair of fives with a straight draw, but he was behind the pair of kings and Sulsky's flush draw. The 4? turn gave Sulsky the flush, though Phisherman36 could still win with either a four or five on the river. Luckily for Sulsky, the A? appeared and he was pushed the $112,476 pot.
Another player in action on Tuesday, wilhasha finished as the days second biggest loser after dropping $111,000. He played over 1,300 hands of $50/$100 NLHE against altiFC.
In the largest pot of their match, wilhasha ($28,728.29) raised to $250 and then called when altiFC ($77,934.67) three-bet to $1,000. The 7?K?3? flop saw altiFC lead out for $1,400, wilhasha raise to $3,650, and the former call before both players checked the 9? turn.
AltiFC proceeded to led out $6,900 on the 10? river and then called wilhashas $24,078.29 all-in shove holding 10?9?, which was good enough to win the $57,455 as wilhasha held the inferior 8?7?.
