On Thursday, the Waterfront Hotel and Casino played host to another short but entertaining Day 1 flight of the PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Cebu Main Event. Day 1b of the PHP100,000 ($2,430) buy-in came to a close with Milan Gurung leading the way with 99,900 in chips.

With a delayed start to the day, organizers and others were hoping for a solid turnout of at least 200 total players across the two starting flights. Two hundred would be a little consolation, however, considering that those players would fall well short of the 246 who played last year. Eighty-one players hit the felt on Day 1a--41 survived.

Seventy-seven players took to the felt on Day 1b, including recent Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon Main Event runner-up Gie Reyes. Also competing were 2009 Aussie Millions Main Event fourth-place finisher Raj Ramakrishnan, 2011 ANZPT Adelaide Main Event runner-up and online pro Jesse McKenzie, and Sixiao "Juicy" Li. All those players were unable to survive, though, including Team PokerStars Pros Celina Lin and Raymond Wu. Both PokerStars pros started well, but they were eliminated in the second half of the day.

While Aditya Agarwal held the chip lead for most of the day and Choi Young Su made a charge in the latter stages, it was Milan Gurung who made the most ground to sit atop the remaining 36 players with a 99,900-chip stack.

Su was snapping at his heels with 88,700 as play came to a close. Also advancing to Day 2 were Chane Kampanatsanyakorn (64,400), Agarwal (63,900), Jim Collopy (38,700), Daniel Laidlaw (34,600) and Kevin Zhang (29,800).

Play will resume on Friday at 12:15 pm PHT for Day 2. You can be sure to find all of the live coverage in the PokerNews Live Reporting Blog all tournament long.
