1 | Rens Feenstra | 52,800 | $103,084 |
2 | Rick Janesn | 36,980 | $72,198 |
3 | Jens Hansen | 23,760 | $46,388 |
4 | Damian Mizinski | 17,600 | $34,361 |
5 | Jarkko Mammela | 13,210 | $25,790 |
6 | Kristaps Bertulis | 10,570 | $20,636 |
7 | Anders Kjellerup | 8,870 | $17,317 |
8 | Nicolas Storm | 7,030 | $13,725 |
9 | Imro Sendar | 5,265 | $10,297 |
Feenstra started the final table as the chip leader, and according to the Unibet Open Live Reporting Team, he busted Imro Sendar on one of the very first hands of nine-handed play. Sendar five-bet shoved with the 8?8?, and Feenstra called with the A?K?. The 2?5?3? flop gave Feenstra a wheel draw to go along with his overs, the J? on the turn was a brick, and the 4? completed the board to give him a wheel.
Nicolas Storm exited after Sendar, getting the rest of his chips in the middle with the A?3? against the A?7? of Damian Mizinski. The dominant hand held up, and Storm hit the rail.
The seventh-place finisher was Anders Kjellerup, who was in great shape to double with Q?Q? against Mizinskis A?8?. Mizinski spiked an ace on the 7?J?A? flop, and the turn and river bricked 3?, 5? respectively.
A double elimination sent Kristaps Bertullis and Jarkko Mammela packing in sixth and fifth places, respectively. All of the money went in preflop between those two and Jansen, and Jansens A?A? held up as the flop, turn, and river produced inconsequential cards.
Jansen KOd another player a few hands later when Mizinski three-bet shoved from the big blind with A?3?. Jansen, the original raiser, called with 2?2?, and the flop and turn came Q?5?10?10?. The river was an ace, giving Mizinski a pair of aces, but it was the A?, giving Jansen a winning flush.
Jansen and Feenstra battled back-and-forth during three-handed play, but it was short stack Jens Hansen who bowed out in third place. He three-bet shoved with A?6? over an open from Jansen, who called with 10?10?. The wired pair held up, and the two Dutchman were off to play heads up for the title.
Jansen started with a lead, and extended it to a two-to-one advantage before Feenstra found a lucky double with K?2? against Jansens 3?3?. The tables were turned, and suddenly Jansen was on the ropes. On the final hand, Feenstra called a raise from Jansen preflop, then check-raised his fellow countryman on a flop of 10?2?8?. Jansen went all in, Feenstra quickly called, and the cards went on their backs.
Jansen: 5?5?
Feenstra: 10?9?
Neither the turn (3?), nor the river (J?) were any help for Jansen, and he was eliminated in second place.
Congratulations to Rens Feenstra for winning the Unibet Open Riga. This was the final Unibet Open event for 2013, but be on the look out for more exciting tournaments as the calendar turns to 2014.
