Borgata Winter Poker Open Day 18: Alan Colon Wins Event #23
On Friday, the 2014 Borgata Winter Poker Open closed out with the final event of the series, Event #23: $230 Deepstack No-Limit Hold'em Re-Entry. After a 15-hour day of play, Alan Colon was awarded the top prize of $14,122. Colon was one of five players who participated in a five-way chop to end the tournament and in the end he was given the trophy and the largest slice of the pie.

The top 27 players in the field received a payday with a min-cash being worth $454. As the day wore on, the final table was eventually reached with Jesse Elliott sitting on the biggest stack at the final ten.
Michael Meehan was the first casualty of the official final table. His path downward began when he moved all in from early position for 266,000. Ron Rhoads called all in for less from the small blind and the hands were tabled. Rhoads held Q?J? and was up against Meehan's A?K?. The board ran out 10?5?2?2?J?, giving Rhoads a winning pair of jacks to survive and crippling Meehan in the process. Soon after, Meehan busted to Walt White when his A?10? failed to improve against White's A?Q?.
Soon after, Richard Marchese was eliminated when his Q?10? failed to improve against White's Q?Q?. The board ran out 9?{7}8?2?8? and White's ladies held to score the elimination. Marchese collected $1,513 for his efforts.
Despite his earlier double up, Rhoads was the next player to make his way to the rail. On his final hand, Victoria Larkin opened with a raise from the button. Rhoads jammed all in over the top from the small blind and found calls from Alan Cohen in the big blind as well as Larkin. The two active players checked it down so the completed board read 10?3?7?7?8?. Rhoads showed A?6? for ace high but was ultimately bested by Cohen's A?J? for a better ace high.
Elliott, who came into the final table with the chip lead, was the next player to fall and the last player to eliminated before the deal. He moved all in before the flop with 7?7? and was racing with Esteban Rodriguez's A?9?. Rodriguez flopped a nine and was able to crippled Elliott in the process. The very next hand, Elliott found himself all in with 4x4x against Larkin's 3x3x. Larkin was able to find a third trey and scored the elimination.
From there, the final five players worked out a deal and Colon was awarded the top prize.
