The event began over the weekend with a late field of 455 players. On Sunday's Day 2, just 66 of those returned to action with 63 spots making the money. Eventually, a final table was reached, but from there it took four hours to lose the first player.

Dominik Panka was the first player to bust in eighth place, continuing his impressive year with another top result. Panka began 2014 with a bang, first winning the 2014 PCA Main Event for $1,423,096, and then he won the European Poker Tour Deauville 10,300 High Roller for 272,000. This result put another 20,150 in the pockets of the young Polish player.

Following Panka's bust, play lasted into the early hours of Monday morning. Eventually, Katchalov and Jedlicka were pitted against one another, but decided to postpone the duel because both were planning on playing Day 1b of the EPT Vienna Main Event later that day. At the end of the night, Jedlicka had a slight lead with 5.03 million in chips to Katchalov's 4.08 million, and the two agreed to a deal that locked up 127,600 for Jedlicka and 121,700 for Katchalov. There was then the title and 27,700 left to be played for.

The two resumed play on Tuesday. After an extended four-hour affair, the Ukranian-American Katchalov emerged as the victor to hoist the trophy high. Katchalov has now quietly earned over $750,000 in 2014 and is on pace to have one of his best years ever.
