2015 Crown Aussie Millions Schedule Announced
On Friday, August 1, 2014, Crown Melbourne announced the schedule for the 2015 Aussie Millions Poker Championship. The series will take Wednesday, January 14 through Monday, February 2, 2015 and consist of 21 events.
Headlining the schedule will be the famous Aussie Millions Main Event, running Sunday, January 25 through Sunday, February 1, and the winner will take away an estimated AU$1.6 million.
Returning to the schedule for another year are the mouth-watering big buy-in "Challenge" events: the $25,000 Challenge, $100,000 Challenge, and LK Boutique $250,000 Challenge.
"Crown Melbourne's Aussie Millions Poker Championship has effectively become one of the top poker majors and a favorite amongst some of the most renowned players in the world," said Crown Melbourne's Director of Poker Jim Preston. "And the stage has never been brighter."
In 2014, the Aussie Millions Main Event partnered with the PokerStars.net Asia-Pacific Poker Tour, and it appears that will be the case again in 2015. With the partnership in place, the Aussie Millions schedule was pushed back a little bit deeper into January. This allows for players to make trips to both the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and the Aussie Millions. In 2015, the PCA is scheduled to take place from January 6-14, and players traveling from one to the other won't miss much of the Aussie Millions schedule.
The 2014 Aussie Millions was one for the ages, and if 2015 is anything like it, this is one event you won't want to miss. Ami Barer topped a field of 668 players to win the Main Event for AU$1.6 million, defeating a stacked final table that included Sorel Mizzi, Jacob Balsiger, Darren Rabinowitz, Vincent Rubianes, and Scott Seiver.
Outside of that impressive event, the "Challenge" tournaments all drew massive numbers. The $25,000 Challenge received 65 entries and was won by Max Altergott; Yevgeniy Timoshenko won the $100,000 Challenge that drew 76 entries; and Phil Ivey topped 46 entries to win the LK Boutique $250,000 Challenge.
