With a series of updates carried out between Sept. 12-16, Hungary's gambling authority decided to include several of the domains used by PokerStars in the country's Internet blacklist.

Together with PokerStars.com, PokerStars.eu and PokerStars.huwere included on the blacklist by the authority. They were joined by the Swedish, Romanian, Polish, and Greek websites of the poker room, too.

"We are monitoring the regulatory developments in Hungary very closely and are aware of reports that changes may be underway," a representative from PokerStars told PokerNews. "Although these appear to indicate that there will be positive developments, the details of these changes are not yet known so we cannot speculate."

Addressing the issue of the inclusion of the room on Hungary's blacklist, the same PokerStars representative added, "We are currently in conversations with the relevant parties regarding the ISP issue and will provide updates if we have additional guidance or information. We appreciate the patience of players throughout this time."

Ironically, the blacklist which includes other top rooms such as partypoker, Unibet, Betsson, and Betclic does not include any mention of Full Tilt Poker, the other room property of Amaya Gaming and PokerStars.

The creation of a Hungarian gambling blacklist is part of a wider governmental plan, which includes the regulation of online poker in Hungary through the creation of an environment controlled by the State with a system of State-issued licenses. Earlier this year, several international operators publicly expressed their criticism towards the regulatory plans presented by the Hungarian government, accusing that a regulated market would carry unsustainable costs for the operators, especially given the limited revenues that Hungary could generate.

Yet, although a few months ago the government has announced that it would soon start to accept the applications for a first tier of 10 licenses, it has since then failed to define all the details needed for the of the application process to begin.
