2014 Seneca Fall Poker Classic: Pusmucans, Smith Dominate Opening Flights of Event #2 0001

The 2014 Seneca Fall Poker Classic continued Sunday with the start of Event #2, a $125 buy-in no-limit holdem event with a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool. The special event features six separate starting flights across three days with the survivors advancing to Day 2 on Wednesday to play down to a champion.

The first flight began at 11 a.m. ET and when registration closed after eight levels a total of 114 entries were tallied. Only 30 survived the day, with Mandy Smith and her stack of 148,200 leading the way.

Smith quickly climbed the leaderboard near the end of the day and won a big pot on the final hand of the night. With the flop showing 4?6?J? Smith checked and her opponent bet 12,000. Smith the announced all in, effectively putting the other player all in for around 65,000 more. He eventually folded the Q?Q? face up, and she flicked her cards to the dealer without showing.

Some of the others advancing in the first flight were Josh Knight, Carol Leonardi, Kristan Mackiewicz and Cameron Bartolotta.

After Flight A came to a close early Monday evening, Flight B began at 6 p.m. ET and attracted a total of 57 entries. When play wrapped up after 12 levels only eight players remained with Marc Pusmucans leading the way with 188,000. Pusmucans won his biggest pot of the day against previous chip leader Richard Powell when his K?K? held up against J?J? on a 2?10?2?A?6? board, and he steadily climbed through the remainder of the evening to finish as the overall chip leader.

Several others bagged 100K-plus stacks, including Olivier Dufour, Adam Foster, Steve Ma and Atif Choudhury.

Event #2 will resume at 11 a.m. on Monday with Flight C at 6 p.m. Flight D will get underway in the evening, and the final two flights will take place on Tuesday.

Well have complete coverage of Event #2 until a champion is crowned on Wednesday. The flagship $1,000 Main Event kicks off on Friday with the first of two starting flights, with the conclusion set for Sunday.
