It was relatively quiet over at UK & Ireland PokerNews this week, yet there was still a handful of stories that hit the headlines and stirred up plenty of interest among our readers.

Last week got off to a flying start thanks to Alex "Cambridge Alex" Goulder emerging victorious in the 2014 partypoker World Poker Tour National Prague Main Event.

Goulder bested a field of 251 players in the 2,000 buy-in event and helped himself to the WPT National trophy and 105,000 in cold, hard cash. That win takes Goulder's live tournament winnings total past the $700,000 barrier.

Another player who has been enjoying continued success in the live tournament arena is Sam Razavi, who this week made history by winning his third consecutive Asian Poker Tour (APT) Player of the Year award. When you look at Razavi's results in Asia, they are nothing short of phenomenal.

When Razavi, who now lives in the Philippines, won the award in 2012, he won three titles and cashed 14 times. In 2013, he won five titles and cashed 21 times. During the 2014 season, the popular pro booked four outright wins and 15 cashes.

One of the UK's brightest rising stars added to his already-glowing reputation when he won the 2,000 High Roller at the Eureka Poker Tour Prague festival. Louis Salter, younger brother of Jack Salter, collected 124,560 after a seven-way chop involving the likes of Dan Shak, Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov, Benjamin Pollak, Ari Engel, and Owain "sngwonder" Carey.

Keeping with the live poker scene, PokerStars announced the first leg of the UKIPT's fifth season, while Sheffield geared up for the 2014 Genting Poker Series (GPS) Grand Final Main Event (read about Day 1b and Day 1c).

Back to the virtual felt now, and the week started superbly for Del "DobberOfDoom" Leach, who banked almost $55,000 by finishing in fourth place in the 888poker XL Series Main Event.

Christopher Brammer helped himself to a $22,000 score at Full Tilt, which helped him return to the UK online poker rankings top 10.
