New Jersey's Online Poker Revenues Climb for Second Consecutive Month
For the second straight month, online poker has shown positive growth on regulated sites in New Jersey.
According to the January report released by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE), all four of the state's licensed operators experienced growth in January when compared to December. The boom in January follows an increase in online gaming revenue in December, reversing a three-month trend of declining revenues.
New Jersey regulated online gaming revenue in January was $11,567,337, representing an 8 percent increase from the $10,736,118 registered in December. Online poker revenues grew at an even faster rate, experiencing a 12 percent increase during that period to about $2.3 million in revenues.
The online poker boom in New Jersey isn't a complete surprise considering partypoker NJ and BorgataPoker.com hosted the Garden State Super Series (GSSS) II during the month, and WSOP.com NJ and 888poker NJ began to share liquidity in select tournaments and cash games.
The GSSS II helped the two sites under the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa license maintain their dominance in the New Jersey regulated online gaming arena with $3,785,152 in total online gaming revenue, representing 33 percent of the total market share.
Caesars, which owns the licenses to WSOP.com NJ and 888poker NJ, accounted for the 24 percent of the state's regulated online gaming with a reported $2,757,260 in revenues.
