PokerStars Named Best Online Poker Operator for Third Straight Year
If you polled one hundred online poker players, there's a good chance the vast majority of them would name PokerStars as online poker's best site.
Earlier this month, PokerStars received official recognition when it won the award for Online Poker Operator of the Year at the annual International Gaming Awards, which took place in London.
It marked the third consecutive year PokerStars took home the title, and they did so by beating out their sister site Full Tilt Poker, who was also nominated for Online Casino Operator of the Year. In addition, Rational Group, the parent company of PokerStars, won the award for Socially Responsible Operator of the Year Online, which recognized the company's stringent and ethical responsible gaming policies.
"We are extremely proud and honored that PokerStars won Online Poker Operator of the Year and that Rational Group won Socially Responsible Operator of the Year, both in tough, competitive fields," said PokerStars' Director of Poker Communications Lee Jones, who was on hand to accept the awards. "Personally speaking, I am perhaps most gratified by the responsible gaming award; it recognizes our long-standing and ongoing commitment to providing a safe and responsible environment for our players."
In 2014, PokerStars celebrated a historic year that included holding its billionth tournament, the introduction of Spin & Go tournaments, and implementing casino games, a move that was met with mixed reviews by those in the poker industry. In addition, the site received new gaming licenses in the UK and Bulgaria, which joined Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain as jurisdictions where PokerStars holds separate government licenses.
The International Gaming Awards were also kind to two properties that play host to PokerStars LIVE poker rooms. The Hippodrome Casino in London took the award for Casino Operator Europe, while City of Dreams Manila won Casino/Integrated Resort of the Year.
