Poker on Twitch Gets Serious as Daniel Negreanu and Griffin Benger Start Live Streams
Amazon-owned live streaming video platform Twitch.tv keeps gaining traction in the poker world, as online poker specialist Griffin Benger and Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu joined the pool of poker pros on the platform.
"Thanks to Jamie Staples for helping me set up Twitch to watch live poker, and to Jason Somerville for making this platform cool," Negreanu wrote on his Twitter profile right after his first Twitch live stream stream on Tuesday, April 14.
Negreanu who already has more than 4,000 subscribers to his Twitch account, live streamed some play-money games on PokerStars, interacting with his viewers by actively participating in the discussion in the site's chatbox.
Talkative and outspoken by nature, the six-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner used the opportunity to comment on the hands he played, and even showed parts of his house and his dog, Mushu, to the viewers.
"It was fun," Negreanu commented on his first adventure on Twitch. He also confirmed his intention to head back to the site for new streaming sessions in the near future.
During the past months, work done by poker players to promote the game on the platform has not gone unnoticed. PokerStars, the world's biggest poker room, decided to add Somerville to its team, and subsequently named Staples a "Friend of PokerStars."

Counter Strike and Poker Champ Griffin Benger Lands on Twitch
Those interested in learning how to get better at poker from the best players around should definitely keep an eye on Benger's newly-launched Twitch account.
A former professional video game player and Counter Strike legend, Benger is a successful poker player with online winnings totaling more than $6 million, according to PocketFives), and live tournament winnings in excess of $1.3 million, according to the HendonMob.
In his streams, the Toronto-based poker pro, who recently won the PokerStars Shark Cage television show for $1 million, entertained his viewers with action-heavy sessions while talking about his thinking process behind various decisions. He also shared some details about his private life.
During his third live stream on Twitch, Benger offered the public the opportunity to watch him play the Super Tuesday and other high-stakes games on a seven-minute delay.
