New Jersey's "Gustavo" was this week's biggest winner in the Garden State, banking an even $10,000 after outlasting a field of 237 players in the partypoker NJ/BorgataPoker.com $50,000 Guarantee. The runner-up in this tournament was "ratboy33", cashing for $6,585.
Some notable players on the final table in this event included Jason "Riverman" Lawhun, finishing in fourth place for $4,000, and Daniel "mj23style" Sewnig, finishing in sixth place for $2,850.
In the WSOP.com/888poker NJ Sunday $30,000 Guarantee, it was "mouse" grabbing the top prize of $8,142 for finishing on top of the 174-player field. "JBAdonkfest" earned a nice prize of $4,749 for finishing in second place, while "RLMmachine" banked $2,714 for finishing in third.
Meanwhile, The Big Sunday on 888poker NJ came close to meeting its guarantee for the second time in as many weeks with 50 players. In that event, New Jersey's BIG_MONEY won $3,200 after beating Frank "TreadLightly" Saraf in heads-up play.
In other news, New Jersey State Senator Ray Lesniak recently announced his plans for a run for governor in 2017. Lesniak, a supporter of regulated online gaming, has made it known he will fight against Las Vegas Sands Corporation CEO Sheldon Adelson and his effort to shut down Internet gambling at the federal level.
