If ever you needed evidence of poker being a global game then you'd need to look no further than the Redbet LIVE Dublin Main Event final table. There are two Polish players, a Ukrainian, a Bulgarian, a Spaniard, a Czech, a Swiss, and an Irishman.
Ireland's sole representative at the final table is Dermot Allen, who needs to finish seventh of better to beat his previous largest score of 2,000. Allen goes into the final table as the second-shortest stack with 735,000 in chips, or 18 big blinds.
Damien Porebski, the Day 1a chip leader, has reached the final table with 1.04 million in chips, while Spain's Francisco Fernandez will return with 1.68 million. The rest of the final table is made up of Micah Falar (1.05 million), Theodor Steimer (740,000), Radoslaw Wesierski (730,000), and Chutrov.
Each of the returning players is guaranteed 1,825 thanks to the money bubble bursting midway through Day 2.
Elizabeth Elving limped in for 16,000 with AxQx and then called when Pat Tully raised to 55,000. A K?Q?4? flop saw Elving lead for 50,000 only to see Tully raise all in for 200,000 in total. After much deliberation, Elving called, was shown JxJx, and was ahead. That fact only remained true until the turn, though, as that's where the J? came into play to gift Tully an unlikely set of jacks.
Elving was down to three-and-a-half big blinds after that hand and committed those chips with KxKx only to run straight into the AxAx of Theodor Steimer. Lady Luck wasn't shining on Elving and she busted in 24th place, bursting the bubble in the process.
Among those finishing in the money were Emma Wikberg, Nicholas Newport, Mick McCloskey, Colm Hanlon, the aforementioned Tully, and Gerard Keenan.
Play will resume at 2 p.m. with four minutes of Level 20 (20,000/40,000/5,000) remaining. Kostyakov is in pole position for the 15,570 first-place prize, but can anyone stop him? Tune in to PokerNews on Tuesday to find out.
