The Helsinki Freezeout Breaks the Ice in the New Year From Jan. 6-15, 2016

Poker players around Europe will break in the New Year with seventh edition of the Helsinki Freezeout in Finland.

The poker festival takes place at Casino Helsinki from Jan. 6-15 with 10 action-packed tournaments featuring buy-ins ranging from �330 to �2,050. Most of the events on the schedule are in the no-limit hold'em format, however, there are also tournaments taking place in Omaha and seven-card stud poker variants.

Additionally, the schedule takes advantage of many different tournament formats including full-ring freezeouts, 6-max, rebuy, turbo, and win the button.

The series has a long and storied tradition dating back to 2005 when Sweden's Jonas Molander won the biggest prize in the series after shipping a �2,100 no-limit hold'em tournament for �93,600.

The Helsinki Freezeout took a break after its run in 2009 before becoming an annual series once against in 2013. A Swede was the big winner the last time the poker festival took place in Jan. 2015 when Johan Stor?kers won the top prize of �49,096 in a �1,070 no-limit hold'em event.

In the upcoming series, it is expected that the Main Event will produce the largest prize pool. To the delight of players, the rake has been reduced from �70 to �50 creating a �1,050 buy-in event. With two-days of action and 120-minute blind levels, this tournament promises to provide players plenty of time to build up a big stack.

Additionally, live satellites for this and other events will be held Casino Helsinki from Jan. 3-7 to help players get into some of the bigger buy-in tournaments for a fraction of the cost.
