The last weekend in January was a big one for online poker tournament players in the Garden State. Not only was the partypoker NJ/BorgataPoker.com $50K Guarantee super sized into the partypoker NJ/BorgataPoker.com $100K Guarantee without increasing the $215 buy-in, but the $200 buy-in WSOP.com/888poker NJ Sunday $30,000 Guarantee was replaced with the $500 buy-in WSOP.com/888poker NJ $30,000 Guaranteed The BIG Deal.
The biggest winner over the weekend took place in the $100K Guarantee with "TabulaRasa" finishing on top of a three-way deal to collect $17,824. The other two players involved in the deal also scored big with "llevenson" banking $16,101 for second place and David "draiman517" Raiman winning $13,570 for third place.
Meanwhile, it was New Jersey's "dehhhhh" finishing on top of 132-entrant field in the first ever The BIG Deal to bank $17,260. Notable players to make the final table in this tournament included Jesse "No_Xcape" Elliot (third place - $5,733), AJ "TheRounder89" Ten Hoeve (fifth place - $3,884), Ted "ol muggins" Ely (sixth place - $$3,267), andSteven "7douche" Madara (seventh place - $2,589).
On top of Ely's final table finish in The BIG Deal, he also managed a decent score on Saturday when he finished on top of the 167-player field in the WSOP.com/888poker NJ $10,000 GTD Nightly for $3,346.
