Chris Reslock won his eighth World Series of Poker Circuit gold ring this week, taking down the opening event of the Harrah's Atlantic City for $16,502.

Reslock has a long and storied history in the game of poker, and he once had the most gold rings of any player follow the win of his seventh to surpass Alex Masek in May 2013. Masek eventually went on to rack up nine gold rings, but this win for Reslock pulls him back within one of the much younger pro.

"It's fun to be competing for something like that," Reslock told WSOP officials in regards to the ring race. "That's the fun of all games, isn't it? Keeping score."

A local to the New Jersey coastal city, Reslock topped a field of 220 players in the $365 No-Limit Hold'em event to earn the victory. Bernard Lee was one familiar face to reach the final table, finishing in sixth place for $3,145, and Vinny Pahuja took 11th for $1,236.
