Online poker players in New Jersey turned out in huge numbers thank to the Garden State Super Series IV (GSSS IV) on partypoker NJ and BorgataPoker.com beginning its second week of play. The GSSS IV runs until March 13 with the schedule featuring 62 action-packed events with a combined $1 million in guaranteed prizes.
The biggest event that took place on New Jersey regulated online poker rooms was the $215 buy-in GSSS #30 - $100,000 GTD NLH [Reentry], which replaced the regular weekly $50,000 Guarantee with the same buy-in. Leonard "smoothustler" August took down this tournament for $19,101 after beating "Moose4Life" in heads-up play. "Moose4Life" was also one of three players this weekend to collect a five-digit payday, with his runner-up performance awarding him $13,714.
Other notable players to navigate through the 553-player field to reach the final table included Sean "poopchute" Sisco (3rd - $9,512), Anthony "upayformypennys" Pagan (6th - $5,143), Pierre "P-aire_146" Deissler (8th - $3,097), and Andrew "laumserg" Glauberg (9th - $2,212).
The third five-digit winner came in the $535 buy-in GSSS #31 - $50,000 GTD NLH High Roller 6-Max [Reentry] when Moe "MoeFarah" Farah collected $12,155 for outlasting the 111-player field. "ArmadilloPhil" fell just short of the top prize, finishing in second place for $8,270.
Also at the final table in this tournament were Michael "Gags30" Gagliano (5th - $4,440) and Keith "T1mB3y_B33F" Donovan (6th - $3,774).
Donovan's weekend was far from done, however, as he finished in second place in the WSOP.com NJ/888poker NJ Sunday $30,000 Guarantee for $5,821. "TemptMe" almost had a five-digit score in this tournament after taking it down for $9,952. Other players on the final table included Jesse "No_Xcape" Elliot (3rd - $3,324) and Anthony "Flawlessbink" Maio (5th - $2,178).
Next week promises to bring some more big action, as the GSSS IV concludes with some big events including the $1,060 buy-in GSSS #58 - $75,000 GTD NLH High Roller [Reentry] and the $215 buy-in GSSS IV Main Event.
