TonyBet was back at Playground Poker Club in Kahnawake, Quebec, this past weekend. Their second-ever live event in Canada quickly followed their successful TonyBet Winter Festival that occurred in February. This time around, it was the TonyBet Power Weekend for a six-tournament mini series with low buy-ins and a wide variety of game types.

Perceval Takes $21,000 After Five-Way Deal

With the emphasis clearly placed on hosting a fun-filled series, the action kicked off on March 9 with an incredibly affordable $150 no-limit hold'em reentry tournament with four starting flights. Despite the low buy-in, a big $100,000 was guaranteed on the prize pool.

After registration closed on Day 1d the final day the entries totaled 880, creating a prize pool of $115,236 with $28,000 promised for the winner. Day 2 flew past the money bubble and played all the way down to a final table of 10.

By the time just five players remained, talks of a deal struck up and the players came to an agreement on how to distribute the remaining prize pool. Ruben Perceval, holding the largest amount of chips at the time, secured the title and the biggest chunk of money, pocketing $21,000.

Lemieux Scores Most In Second Event

The second event on the schedule was a no-limit hold'em mix-max tournament with a buy-in of $110. The Thursday tournament received 66 entries and also ended in a five-way chop. As soon the final five sat down at the final table and eyed up each others stacks, they started to discuss a chop and came to a quick deal.

Michel Lemieux came out with the most, earning $1,402, and Olivier Lamarre ($1,230), Manfred Gunther ($1,205), Patrick McGinnis ($835), and Laurent Dub ($820) also picked up some cash.

Blais Wins After Third Five-Way Deal

The third tournament was a $220 freezeout with 149 players. About 10 hours after the first card was dealt, Jacques Blais emerged the victor with $4,886 to show for it.

Again, this event also had a five-way deal that saw all remaining players secure $4,000 each with $1,286 reserved for the winner. But when heads-up play began, another deal was made to take $400 each and play for another $486, claimed by Blais. Carlo Nini picked up the runner-up result and $4,400.

Tag-Team Event Also Ends In Chop

That was followed by a $300 tag-team tournament where each stack was played by a pair of players alternating each level. A total of 195 entries filled the tables and 21 of them made it into the money, chasing the $11,000 first-place prize. After a long day of play 15 hours or so the final eight teams made a deal to chop up the prize pool and Team Fee earned the biggest portion at $6,880.

The fifth tournament on the schedule carried a price tag of $110 and was the first time no-limit pineapple holdem had ever been dealt in the poker club. Andrew Forest came out on top of 163 players to earn $3,500 after a six-way deal.

Larosilire and Chandler Keep Their Own Bounties

The final event of the TonyBet Power Weekend was a $135 six-max bounty tournament. The 201 entries played down to 11 before a deal was made the saw each player keep their own bounty chip as well as earn an amount of money that reflected their current chip stack. Jean-Guy Larosilire earned the most at $2,767 while Jeremy Chandler was the next best with $1,960.

That concluded the second-ever TonyBet series at Playground Poker Club. There are rumors that open-face Chinese the game TonyBet Poker is famous for will be coming to Playground for the very first time soon, and PokerNews will keep you updated on any news about that.
