Jonathan Duhamel Signed by Quebec's Casinos as WSOP Circuit Set to Return
Canada's only World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event Champion has just been signed by The Socit des casinos du Qubec (SCQ) to be featured in upcoming events. Jonathan Duhamel will take a central role as Casino de Montral brings the WSOP Circuit back to Canada for the first time years.
SCQ is a subsidiary of Loto-Qubec and is responsible for managing Quebec's four casinos, including Casino de Montral. Loto-Qubec also operates the province's only licensed and regulated online poker site, Espacejeux, and Duhamel will be making an appearance on their digital tables as well.
The arrangement will see Duhamel taking part in the WSOP Circuit event at Casino de Montral, which runs from April 20 to May 1 with an additional two events taking place online at Espacejeux May 7-8 that Duhamel will also participate in.
Duhamel will also be a part of the ceremony that awards WSOP Circuit rings to the winners of the 12 events and he will act as honorary chairman of the Montreal segment of SCQ.
There is also word of a mini-tournament poker triathlon and demonstration tables hosted by Duhamel at Casino de Montral and Casino du Lac-Leamy.
"We are very proud to have the privilege of organizing the WSOPs only Canadian stop and to have Jonathan Duhamel, one of Qubec's best-known and most respected poker players, be part of it," said Fran?ois Hanchay, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Qubecs Casinos.
In 2010, Duhamel became the only Canadian to ever win poker's most prestigious tournament, the WSOP Main Event. He earned just under $9 million for the feat and has since won two additional WSOP bracelets, both in 2015, which are worth a further $4.5 million combined. His past success with the WSOP brand makes him a suitable ambassador for the brand as it returns to Canada for the first time in two and a half years.
