German Championship of Poker

King's Casino Czech Republic is famous throughout Europe for not only being the biggest poker room in Europe, but also for hosting big tournament festivals just about every week of the year.

The German Championship of Poker (GCOP) hits King's Casino from June 1-6 with a fantastic array of tournaments. While many players will likely be flocking in from Germany considering the casino is just minutes away from the country's border in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, there will also be many others traveling from elsewhere in Europe, creating a true international affair.

The highlight of the poker festival is the four-day GCOP 888 Main Event taking place June 3-6. It is no coincidence that the buy-in for the tournament is 888, since 888poker is partnering with King's Casino for the event.

The tournament provides players the opportunity for plenty of action with two opening days on June 3 and June 4, with reentries available. The action will then continue with Day 2 on June 5 and Day 3 on June 6. The tournament will feature a player-friendly, deep-stacked structure, with participants starting off with 30,000 in chips and 60-minute blind levels.

Qualify for the Main Event Two Ways: 888poker and Live at King's Casino

Thanks to a recent partnership announced between 888poker and King's Casino, players will have a handful of opportunities to win a GCOP 888 Main Event package valued at $1,250 at the online poker room for just one penny. The package will include a ticket to the event and up to five days hotel accommodations at King's Hotel Rozvadov.

The first qualifier takes place today, Tuesday, May 10, at 20:08 CET with a $30 rebuy tournament that guarantees at least one package to be awarded. Players can either directly buy into the satellite or work there way up the ladder via step tournaments and sit-and-gos, with the first step featuring a $0.01 buy-in. Satellites will continue on 888poker leading up to the event.

Players can also opt to try to get into the big event via one of the three live satellites taking place at King's Casino. The 110 King's Mega Satellite on June 2 guarantees 20 seats, and the following day's 100 Turbo Satellite guarantees at least another 10 seats. Another 100 Turbo Satellite to the Main Event will take place on June 4, and that one guarantees at least five seats to be awarded.

Other Events on the GCOP Schedule

Regardless of how high or low poker players typically play, there should be something on the schedule outside of the Main Event at King's to suit all tastes. Some tournaments that will be attractive to players with a limited bankroll include the 88 888 GCOP Grand Slam Season Opener with 8,888 guaranteed on June 1, the 115 GCOP Warm Up NL Hold'em Turbo Freezeout on June 2, the 80 GCOP Local Championship NL Hold'em 20,000 Gtd. on June 3, the 70 King's Local Championship NL Hold'em 15,000 Gtd. on June 4, and the 60 Mino GCOP Turbo Edition with a 6,000 guarantee on June 6.

Mid- and high-stakes players will be able to enjoy the two-day 440 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship featuring a 20,000 guarantee from June 2-3, the 330 GCOP Freezeout NL Hold'em on June 4, and the 1,888 King's High Roller Event 8-Max with a 40,000 guarantee, and the 200 GCOP Bounty (75 Bounty) NL Hold'em on June 5.

The High Roller event may also include some mid-stakes players since there is a 210 Turbo Satellite to this one hours before the event begins on June 5.

While players are looking forward to the GCOP, there is plenty going on at King's Casino to keep them busy in the meantime, including the Spring Poker Festival from May 10-17, which is highlighted by the 150 King's 100,000 Gtd.
