NJSCOOP and $100K Spin & Go Freeroll Kick Off Sunday in the Garden State
The 2016 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) began on PokerStars around the world last Sunday with many players winning big. PokerStars NJ has also recently launched its ring-fenced client in New Jersey, and the site will also be kicking off its own version of the SCOOP this Sunday in what should prove to be exciting for players in the Garden State.
PokerStars NJ is available to anyone that is within the borders of the state while playing, regardless of whether they are a resident or not. Due to this limiting the amount of players that can participate in the poker festival, it is obviously smaller than the one running right now on the global client. But nonetheless, there is plenty of money up for grabs.
The schedule features 27 exciting events from May 15-29, broken out into low and high tiers to create 54 total tournaments. The best part is that there is over $1 million in guaranteed prizes. This differs from the global site's 55-event schedule broken out into low, medium, and high tiers (155 total tournaments) with over $40 million in guarantees.
The schedule gets right into it, with tons of action straight away on Sunday, May 15. There are five exciting events, or 10 total tournaments, with the second event being the biggest offering a $100,000 guarantee for the $250 high tournament and a $20,000 guarantee for the $25 low tournament.
The highlight of the poker festival are the two NJSCOOP main events on May 29. Both events are deep-stacked two-day affairs with the $50 Low NJSCOOP Main Event featuring a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool and the $500 High NJSCOOP Main Event offering a sizable $200,000 guarantee.
In addition to these events, which take place in no-limit hold'em format, there are plenty of other events in other poker variants, including limit hold'em, pot-limit Omaha, pot-limit Omaha hi-low, mixed no-limit hold'em and pot-limit Omaha, seven-card stud, and 8-game. Additionally, plenty of tournament structures will be utilized during the online poker festival, including full-ring, six-max, four-max, three-max, heads-up, mixed-max, turbo, rebuy, and knockout.
Events for the NJSCOOP range in buy-in from $10 to $1,000, giving every type of poker player a chance to compete, regardless of bankroll. Also, PokerStars is running satellites for every tournament around the clock with buy-ins starting at just $1.
If you live in NJ or plan to visit the state and don't already have an account at PokerStars NJ, you can participate in the NJSCOOP for free, as for a first deposit of $20 you can receive $70 in total value. The tournament, which allows for players to enter up to three-times during the late-registration period, provides a few ways for players to help themselves to free tickets. The first path we already covered with new players making their first deposit automatically receiving a ticket. Players can also earn tickets by accepting and completing one of the two challenges.
