Poker Night in America to Hold $1,675 Tournament at Golden Nugget June 3-7
For the past eight years, the Grand Poker Series hosted by the Golden Nugget has been a staple of the Las Vegas summer tournament schedule. This year, the series will team up with Poker Night in America (PNIA) for a $1,675 reentry event that will have the final table filmed for a TV broadcast on CBS Sports.
The PNIA event will kick off Friday, June 3 at 11 a.m. local time with the first of three starting flights. Monday, June 6 will see the survivors of the three flights combine, and June 7 will be the date of the five-handed TV final table. Those dates closely mirror The Colossus, which runs June 2-7 at the World Series of Poker, and the scheduling should help the event thrive, with hopes to draw a good chunk of players who see their fortunes fade early in poker's most accessible bracelet event.
"We're really looking forward to partnering with such a great property," said PNIA President Todd Anderson in a press release. "Golden Nugget will be a great host for our Poker Night cash games as well as for our new 'The Final Table' show. Play the WSOP Colossus and then come and play at the Nugget for a chance to be on national TV."
The cash game Anderson refers to is a high-stakes invite-only game that will also be filmed.
As for the tournament, it will feature starting stacks of 30,000 and blind levels of 40 minutes on Day 1 and 60 minutes on subsequent days. Unlimited reentries are allowed for nine levels. Plus, PokerNews will be on hand for the event to provide coverage. Check out the full structure here.
PNIA has already awarded north of $2 million in its main events this year, with Rep Porter (Thunder Valley), Adam Dahlin (Canterbury Park), and Nguyet "Kim" Dao (Choctaw) among the winners.
