888 Hand of the Week: Kozlov Crushes Three-Way Clash to Win the Six-Max Championship
The 2016 World Series of Poker continued in Las Vegas, Nevada this week, with one of the summer's toughest events playing out.
PokerNews was on hand for all the action in the 2016 WSOP $10,000 Six-Max No-Limit Hold'em Championship, and will be in Las Vegas for the duration of the World Series. As a part of our coverage, that is brought to you by 888poker, we will be bringing readers a special "888 Hand of the Week" every week throughout the entire 2016 WSOP.
This time around were going to focus on the hand that decided this big and prestigious event.
It was three-handed at the final table with blinds at 50,000/100,000 with a 10,000 ante when Aussie chip leader Martin Kozlov looked down at the Q?Q? and raised it up to 250,000 on the button.
American WSOP bracelet winner Justin Bonomo, the shortest of the three, woke up with the 9?9? in the small blind and decided to go with it, pushing all in for 2.92 million.
Belgian Davidi Kitai, already a three-time WSOP bracelet winner with a reputation as a live-read wizard, looked down at the 6?6? and let it fly, ripping all in for all of his 3.85 million in chips.
Kozlov had them both covered, and couldn't fold, making the call with the best hand going into the flop.
With the title, the bracelet, and a $655,709 first-place prize on the line, the hand was practically over before it started, with Kozlov hitting qaud queens on the Q?Q?7? flop. Bonomo and Kitai were left drawing dead and Kozlov was crowned the $10,000 Six-Max No-Limit Hold'em Championship winner after two meaningless cards on the turn and river, winning his first WSOP bracelet after a massive three-way all-in pot filled with as much excitement as the ending to a bracelet event at the World Series has ever seen.
Getting his chips in the middle in such a great spot, and flopping quads to win the tournament without having to play a single hand of heads-up poker made Kozlov's winning hand from this event an obvious choice for this week's 888 Hand of the Week.
