Sundays are the biggest day of the week at the world's second largest real-money online poker network 888poker due to many of the regular tournamenst featuring larger guaranteed prize pools when compared to what takes place during the week, along with a handful of special added tournaments including Mega Deep and the Sunday Challenge each weekend, plus the Whale and the Baby Whale on alternating Sundays.
In the summer, 888poker typically reduces its prize pool guarantees on its bigger tournaments due to many players choosing to enjoy the weather or head to poker's center stage in Las Vegas to take part in the World Series of Poker. This was also the case this past month with all of the special Sunday tournaments.
"TeamShippo" was the biggest winner in June at 888poker after he took down the Whale on June 12 to collect $27,037. Not too far behind him was "SamSaymon" who won the other version of the Whale during the month on June 26 to bank $26,113.
Two well-known players won the Mega Deep for impressive sums including American poker refugee Brandon "tedwho1" Merrill winning $24,179 on June 12 and Artem "veeea" Vezhenkov shipping the same tournament one week later on June 19 for $23,159.
Other players to win the Mega Deep during June were "dinhjo35" (June 5 - $24,481) and "Achileys34" (June 26 - $22,328).
Meanwhile, "KimberSlice" won the first Baby Whale of the month on June 5 for $18,924 and "allesrigged" banked $18,054 when he shipped this tournament two weeks later.
Winners in the Sunday Challenge included "4bettor" (June 5 - $16,881), "valitopkr11" (June 12 - $16,643), "bienemajo" (June 19 - $17,025), and "s.janowski" (June 25 - $16,480).
