2016 partypoker WPT UK Main Event Day 3: Final Table Reached
The final table of the 2016 partypoker WPT UK Main Event has been reached after the 61 players who returned to Dusk Till Dawn on Saturday afternoon were reduced to only six players.
Seat | Player | Chips |
---|---|---|
1 | Luis Rodriguez Cruz | 1,640,000 |
2 | Alex Lindop | 755,000 |
3 | Seamus Cahill | 1,930,000 |
4 | Nabil Cardoso | 4,965,000 |
5 | Maxime Swennen | 2,345,000 |
6 | Christopher Yong | 3,875,000 |
Only 54 of the 61 returning players received prize money for their 2,200 investment. Two of the United Kingdoms most recognizable players, Kevin Allen and Jon Spinks, both left Nottingham empty-handed after busting in 59th and 58th place, respectively. Robin Fisher was the unfortunate player who burst the money bubble.
With the bubble burst, a steady flow of exits ensued. Niall Farrell, Phil Mighall, Padraig Parkinson, Alex Goulder, Patrick Leonard, Jonathan Gill, Ali Zihni, Tamer Kamel, Marc Macdonnell, Tony Dunst, Ludovic Geilich, Andrew Hulme, 2016 WPT500 UK winner Ben Winsor and Kuljinder Sidhu all bust on Day 3 and won between 4,500 and 26,000.
Leading the six finalists back into battle from 2:00 p.m. on Nov. 6 is Spains Nabil Cardoso, an online cash game professional who also has a knack for tournament poker. Cardosos last recorded live tournament cash was 12 months ago when he finished 20th in the 2015 edition of the WPT UK Main Event for 9,000.
Chris Yong goes into Day 4 second in chips and hopes to win his first six-figure score. This is Yongs 12th major cash of his career and he is guaranteed to surpass his largest live score, which weighs in at 24,600, his reward for finishing fifth in the UKIPT London Main Event in January 2015.
Belgiums Maxime Swennan, Luis Rodriguez Cruz, Alex Lindop and Seamus Cahill make up the rest of the final table.
Lindop is a superb player and one who won a bracelet at this summers World Series of Poker. Lindop returns to the fray with 755,000 chips, making him the shortest stack with only 15 big blinds, but one double up and the talented Brit will be a major threat to those around him.
Irelands Cahill is another top poker talent. With more than $850,000 in live tournament winnings, Cahill is 18th in the Irish all-time money listings. His largest cash to date came in June 2015 when he was the runner-up in a $3,000 no-limit holdem six-handed event at the WSOP for $395,986.
