The Playground Poker Fall Classic is in a Frenzy

Perhaps the most anticipated event of the 2016 Playground Poker Fall Classic kicked off on Friday at the Playground Poker Club in Kahnawake, Quebec. With a guaranteed prize pool of $200,000, the first two starting flights of Event #3: The $250 Frenzy got underway, giving players another opportunity to scoop a monster payday for a small buy-in.

Day 1a began at 10 a.m. Friday morning, gathering 128 entries. Just 28 would make it through the scheduled 14 levels of play. Leading the way was Mark Anthony Alonzi, bagging a healthy stack of 309,000 chips. Alonzi was way ahead of closest competitor Albert N, who mustered 209,000. Hatem Battivh (167,500), Douglas Nick Wasyk (159,000) and Stephen Dias (138,500) rounded out the top of the leaderboard.

A few notables including Timothy Deering, Dave Jeanneau-Cyr, William Blais and Charles La Boissonni��re, who also survived but still have a lot of work to do.

Another 224 players returned for the Friday evening session. Day 1b had a start time of 6 p.m. A total of 47 hopefuls bagged a stack by night��s end. Sitting atop the counts was 2016 World Poker Tour Canadian Spring Championship runner-up, Ruben Perceval. Perceval built a monster stack of 364,000, carrying the overall chip lead into Day 2 so far.

Perceval was chased closely by Keven Desgagne?, also building an impressive stack with 322,000. Christopher Tavares (191,000), Wesley Nunes (190,000) and Arjade Gregorio (161,500) found spots inside the top five by the end of play.

Some familiar faces still in the mix include Daniel Le, Alexandre Henry, Arthur W, Sebastien Proulx and Karim-Olivier Kamal.

Players will have four more chances to qualify for Day 2. Another two starting flights are scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday, with Day 2 slated for Monday.
