500,000 Guaranteed Irish Open Main Event Begins March 27
The longest-running poker tournament in Europe, the Irish Poker Open, heads to the Citywest Hotel in Dublin March 27 for its 26th edition.
Poker tournament grinders have up to 35 events to choose from, tournaments with buy-ins ranging from only 80 and increasing to 2,000, the latter being the 8-Max High Roller on March 29. While it is all but guaranteed that each of the 35 events will be a roaring success, it is the 1,150 Irish Open Main Event that is sure to be the biggest hit with the players.
Boasting a 500,000 guaranteed prize pool, the 2017 Irish Open Main Event takes place March 30 through April 3 and features two starting flights. Main Event players sit down with 30,000 chips and play to blinds that increase every hour.
When the Irish Open Main Event ran in March 2016, a total of 802 entrants created an 801,500 prize pool, smashing the 500,000 guarantee by more than 300,000. Dan Wilson was the player to emerge victorious in 2016, turning his 1,150 into a career-best score of some 150,000.
