Adrian ��Amadi_017�� Mateos showed some great sportsmanship during the SCOOP-30-H: $2,100 NLHE [6-Max] event and was handsomely rewarded with $234,030 after winning the tournament.

Some 693 entries were processed in the $1 million guaranteed tournament, which meant the prize pool weighed in at $1,386,000. The original first place prize was $249,480, but Mateos and Luuk ��pokerkluka�� Gieles, the tournament��s runner-up, made a deal when they were the last two players standing.

Two members of Team PokerStars made it into the money places but fell short of a final table appearance. Igor ��IgorKurganov�� Kurganov fell in 44th place for $5,226 and Leo ��LeoFernandez�� Fernandez bust in 33rd place for $6,930.

By the time the six-handed final table was reached, the least any of the players could win was $41,580, which was the sum awarded to Mexico��s ��ross_654.�� According to the PokerStars Blog, ross_654 was short-stacked and found a spot to move all in while holding ace-ten. ��LEXER1986," a former Sunday Million winner, called with pocket threes, which held, to reduce the player count by one.

Anthony ��wwwBETHEREcom�� Gregg was the next to fall after he got his chips into the middle of the virtual felt holding K?10? on a 9?7?4? flop against the pocket fours of Mateos. Another seven on the turn improved Mateos to an unbeatable full house and this rendered the eight of clubs on the river meaningless.

Germany��s ��WATnlos�� was eliminated in fourth place and was the last player to win a five-figure cash sum. WATnlos and LEXER1986 entered a preflop raising war that resulted in WATnlos five-bet shoving with ace-four of hearts and LEXER1986 calling with a pair of black jacks. Those jacks improved to a full house by the turn and that was the end for WATnlos.

Heads-up was set when LEXER1986��s black aces were cracked by Luuk ��pokerluka�� Giele. LEXER1986��s hand was in front all the way to the river of the 9?6?2?3?7? board, at which point Giele��s Q?J? improved to a flush.

Mateos led Giele by 7,760,749 to 6,099,251 chips and after a short while he extended that lead by approximately 300,000 chips. At this point, the heads-up duo paused the tournament clock and discussed the possibility of striking a deal for the remaining prize pool. Giele stated that ideally he did not want to play a $60,000 heads-up sit & go tournament.

The discussions proved fruitful and saw Mateos lock up $214,030. Giele secured at least $202,559 and they left $20,000 for the eventual champion.

Shortly after agreeing to the deal, Giele began suffering from severe connection problems and asked Mateos for a short break so that he could try connecting to PokerStars from a different location. Mateos was well within his rights to refuse, but showed great sportsmanship and agreed to wait 20 minutes for Giele to return.

Giele did return and managed to claim the chip lead before making an all-in move with 7?6? on a K?K?Q?4?4? board only for Mateos to call the all in with A?J?.

That hand gifted Mateos an 11 million to 2.8 million advantage and the tournament concluded soon after. The final hand saw Giele move all in for 1.6 million with K?J? and Mateos called with 2?2?. When the deuces held, Giele bust in second place, which left Mateos to win yet another major poker tournament.

SCOOP NEWS AND NOTES

The connectivity issues suffered by Giele in his heads-up battle with Mateos were part of a network-wide problem, which led to several SCOOP events being cancelled. Eleven tournaments were unable to resume, including the $2,100 NLHE [4-Max] event. SCOOP will be extended by one additional day to next Tuesday, so that the events that did not play out yesterday can be. ... One event that did resume was SCOOP-31-H: $2,100 NLHE $1M Gtd. This star-studded tournament saw 876 players lock horns and play for a share of $1,752,000. Ukraine��s Artem ��FaNjkEEE�� Kobylynskyi triumphed in this tournament and helped himself to $284,918 after a heads up deal with ��Nolet20�� who banked $258,201. ... Another big score went to UK-based Belgian Kenny ��SpaceyFCB�� Hallaert after he topped a 789-strong field in the SCOOP-29-H: $1,050 NLHE [8-Max] event. Hallaert turned his $2,100 investment into $147,937, which happens to be the largest online cash of the Belgian��s career.
