Global Poker Index: Bracelet Winners Mateos, Monnette, Pham Move Up
Each week, the Global Poker Index releases a list of the top tournament poker players in the world using a formula that takes into account a player's results over six half-year periods. For a look at the entire list, visit the official GPI website. Here's a look at the rankings as of June 14.

Bryn Kenney has yet to post any cashes in the 2017 World Series of Poker, but he's nonetheless retained his lead in the Global Poker Index 2017 Player of the Year race, posting a 19th-straight week at No. 1 in the latest update.
There were some small moves up and down the POY Top 10 this week, including Sergio Aido (No. 3) swapping spots with Ari Engel (No. 4), and Koray Aldemir moving up a couple of places to No. 6.
Two new names join the Top 10 this week as well, including last year's GPI POY David Peters who went from No. 12 to No. 7 after collecting a couple of WSOP cashes so far this summer. Adrian Mateos also leaped up from No. 21 to No. 10 thanks to his victory in the Event #15: $10,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em Championship �� a third career WSOP bracelet for the 22-year-old.

Nick Petrangelo remains the overall GPI rankings leader for an 11th week in a row. Petrangelo has a single WSOP cash thus far, collected in Event #6: High Roller for One Drop - $111,111 No-Limit Hold'em won by Doug Polk.
Meanwhile Mateos moved up again this week in the overall rankings, going from No. 7 to No. 4. The Spaniard matches his previous career-high on the GPI, most recently achieved in January of this year.
Also moving up this week is former GPI rankings leader Dan Smith, who went from No. 13 to No. 6 after getting to the round of 16 in the $10,000 Heads-Up NLHE Championship, then winning a 41-entry $25,000 High Roller at the ARIA Resort & Casino last weekend.

The many results produced by the busy WSOP schedule mean a lot of upward movement among players cashing at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino. No less than 24 new names appear in this week's GPI Top 300, and it's only fitting that bracelet winners top this list of newcomers.
John Monnette beat out a 92-entry field to win the Event #22: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Championship, enabling a big move from No. 573 all of the way to No. 133 this week.
That was Monnette's third career WSOP bracelet, and David Pham likewise won his third after besting a field of 1,739 to take down Event #12: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em. As a result, Pham went from being ranked No. 325 last week to No. 140 in the latest update.

Monnette also leads this week's "Biggest Gains" list (looking solely at players within the current GPI Top 300).
Three WSOP cashes including a final table have helped Matt Waxman move up from No. 503 to No. 218. Meanwhile Esther Taylor has cashed four times in the WSOP already with two final tables, enabling her move up from No. 502 to No. 268.

Finally, among players still in the GPI Top 300 Rafael Moraes endured the steepest drop since last week after tumbling from No. 197 to No. 300.
