1Nicolas chilenocl Yunis$47,520
2Thiago tgrigoletti Grigoletti$33,156
3deadfizh$24,840
4Arne juarnes Coulie$17,280
5Ole wizwizo Schemon$12,960
6DaanOss$8,640

The short-handed shootout event saw 216 players buy in and battle it out across 36 tables. The last player standing on each of those tables made it into the money places; a min-cash was worth $2,386.

The final 36 then played another round where the last player standing progressed to the final table, and what a final table it was as. It homed the likes of Nicolas chilenoci Yunis, Brazils Thiago tgrigoletti Grigoletti, and a certain Ole wizowizo Schemion.

Each of the six finalists sat down with 50,000 chips and it took six full levels before the first player was eliminated. DaanOss three-bet all-in over the top of a deadfizh opening raise and deadfizh made the call. It was a suited ace-jack for DaanOss against the dominating ace-king in the hand of deadfizh and when neither player improved by the river, deadfizhs king-kicker came into play and the final table lost its first player.

Ace-jack proved to be unlucky for Schemion too, who crashed out in fifth place. A raising war broke out between Schemion and Yunis that resulted in Schemion being all in for 26,609 chips with ace-jack. Yunis held a pair of black nines, which remained best through the king-high board. Schemion busted and collected $12,960 while Yunis soared into a substantial chip lead.

Fourth place went to Belgiums Arne juarnes Coulie who won a SCOOP event earlier in the year. Coulie came unstuck when he decided to limp in from the small blind with a pair of sevens and then shove when Yunis raised from the big blind. Yunis quickly called with a pair of jacks and when the board ran out without a seven in sight, Coulie was gone.

The final trio of players paused the clock to discuss a deal but no agreement could be reached, probably because Yunis held 223,000 chips and his nearest rival only 51,000, so play resumed.

Yunis then sent deadfizh to the rail after deadfizh decided to take on the aggressive Chilean. Deadfizh four-bet shoved with ace-four of diamonds only to see Yunis wake up with a pair of aces. Deadfizh did pick up a flush draw on the turn, but Yunis aces held to send the event into the heads-up stage.

Grigoletti had a huge mountain to climb because he only had 25,457 chips to Yunis 274,543 going into heads up. Grigoletti did mount a comeback to be down only 2-to-1 in chips, but Yunis quickly turned the screw to restore his monster-sized advantage.

The final hand saw Grigoletti limp from the small blind for 600, Yunis raise to 4,000 and then call when Grigoletti moved all-in for 27,150. Grigoletti turned over K?3? and Yunis another massive hand in Q?Q?. By the river, the board read A?J?10?J?5? busting Grigoletti in second place and leaving a delighted Yunis to add a WCOOP title to the TCOOP and the trio of SCOOP victories on his impressive list of poker accomplishments.
