The PokerStars Championship Prague 50,000 Super High Roller is down to just three players in contention for the 555,000 first-place prize, but really, it's down to one big favorite and two underdogs.

Timothy Adams has a huge chip lead with 6,045,000 at the close of Day 2. That's good for a majority of the chips in play, but he still has stiff competition to deal with as his remaining two hurdles are Adrian Mateos (1,790,000) and Mikita Badziakouski (665,000). Both have been ever-present at the high rollers around the world this year, cashing for over $4 million, so it wouldn't be a shock if either was able to turn the tables on Adams.

The day began with a handful of entries and reentries, with Steve O'Dwyer firing his third shell while new faces David Peters and Mateos showed up for the first time. That pushed the entry number up to the final tally of 34, and the payout structure in use determined that six players would cash.

Big stacks Koray Aldemir, Orpen Kisacikoglu and Erik Seidel experienced strong starts, at the expense of all of the fresh entries aside from Mateos and the likes of Stephen Chidwick, Christoph Vogelsang, Ole Schemion and the well-traveled Daniel Dvoress. All of those players and more found themselves out the door before the nine-handed unofficial final table.

At that point, it seemed a winner might be reached before the night's end. Play slowed down though, with Seidel running out of steam after getting short and PokerStars Team Pro Igor Kurganov following when his flopped top pair of nines was no good against Mateos' overpair.

In the mean time, Adams solidified himself as the leader in a massive three-bet pot, doubling through Mateos when Mateos turned top pair against Adams' flopped and slowplayed set.

Dietrich Fast has had quite a banner year with over $4.1 million in cashes, but he wouldn't be adding this result to his list of fond memories of 2017 as he shoved just over 20 big blinds with ace-seven suited in the cutoff and ran into the kings of Sam Greenwood to bubble.

Aldemir, whose day looked so promising as he came in with the lead and held that status going into the final table, ended up being first to walk to payouts. He got lucky in a dominated spot and turned a pair when all in against Mateos, but the Spaniard hit a flush on the river with pocket tens.

Kisacikoglu faced an experience deficit against the seasoned pros but managed to climb up from the short stack and eliminated Greenwood with jacks against deuces. However, he'd bust to wrap the night when his kings failed to hold against Adams' flopped combo draw plus pair.

The remaining players come back Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. local time to blinds and antes of 20,000/40,000/5,000. Be sure to head to the PokerStars Blog at that time for live updates.
