The US Poker Open Draws Side Betting Action

A little side action never hurt anybody. Its no surprise to see a few side bets brewing with the US Poker Open kicking off February 1.
The eight-event series, with $10,000 to $50,000 buy-ins, could potentially give new insight to who is truly the best all-around poker player. Why? Because unlike its sister tournament, the Poker Masters, the USPO will feature PLO and eight-game mix.
But duking it out for the title and glory isnt (always) enough, not for these super high rollers put-your-money-where-your-mouth-is type of players.
Enter Daniel Negreanu. In a recent tweet, Negreanu laid out the bait ($50K to win the USPO trophy) and, of course, got a few grabs.
Ok @BrynKenney and others, Ill bet $50,000 on a must win US Poker Open Trophy #

The bet: anyone who accepts and wins the trophy, then Negreanu will owe that person $50K. If neither wins the trophy, then it's a wash.
It didnt take long for the action to come rolling in. Players who have accepted include Benjamin Pollak and Bryn Kenney.
Daniel Negreanu's Poker Masters Bet
This wouldnt be the first time Negreanu took action for a Poker Central event. Back in September, he made the same proposition - $50K even money to win the Purple Jacket for the Poker Masters.
That list of players taking action was a little longer, but theres still plenty of time for that list to grow for the USPO.
I have $50k Purple Jacket Must win bets against the following players. I may up the cap to $100k later this week https://t.co/DLNsgT3kSP

The two bets may be the same but so is the fact that Negreanu is poking Hellmuth to participate.

Hellmuth never did take Negreanu up on his challenge for the Poker Masters and only time will tell if hell bite on the $250,000 being offered for the USPO.
What we do know is that the US Poker Open kicks off on today at 2:00 p.m. Aside from these side bets on the line, also at stake is a custom-designed championship trophy and the title of U.S. Poker Champion.
