Lately, poker players have been trying to live a healthy lifestyle. There's no doubt about it that eating right and adding some fitness to your day-to-day could be beneficial for the mind aspect of the game. But if there's something that players enjoy more than eating vegetables and going to the gym, it's making prop bets. We saw that last month, when Jaime and Matt Staples won a $150,000 weight loss bet from Bill Perkins.

This week, we have another bet in progress. This time, its Lex Veldhuis taking a little added monetary interest in his health gains, along with Jason Somerville. The two will have to work out five times a week must be a "sweat-breaking" workout and a minimum of 30 minutes for each session until Run It Up Reno in October.

If either fails, that person will have to pay a quit penalty of $10,000, and if either messes up one week, a $3,000 fine will be charged.

We asked Jason and Lex to tell us a little bit more about the motivation behind this new bet. But first, let's discuss who started this ambitious bet and why. It was Lex's idea, as he was inspired by the latest Staples brothers prop bet. To be honest, we all probably got a little inspired from their achievement and their next chapter.

I mentioned to Jason I would love to have a bet like that for some extra motivation. He immediately said he was down for that.

Both of them are really motivated, and they are pretty sure they will make it and this bet will help them with their healthy lifestyle.

Somerville said, "Ive been pretty busy the last year and not motivated to do much athletics - but now Ill need to do my best not to owe Lex a pile of money."

The bet will certainly be an improvement from their current lifestyle, as Jason catalogs himself as a "deceptively athletic" person. Lex is a little bit more sure of his capabilities, since he is already going 1-2 times a week to the gym, but, working behind a computer so many hours six days a week still makes it hard.

Were both very similar in that we work long days. Neither of us is willing to sacrifice much of that time to invest in working out, but we both know it would be smart to do so.

"My final goal is to find a permanent spot in my daily routine for workouts so I dont turn into a desk potato."

Jason, however, doesn't have a particular fitness goal in mind. It's not about getting shredded or training for a marathon but rather, the bet is more of a "reasonable and friendly way to get a little healthier."

Although confident that this commitment will be followed through, Lex has some hesitation. "I do think there will be some weeks were going to have to pay the $3k fine for not doing five workouts, but ideally we both wont have to."

Streaming obviously takes a lot of dedication and the hours can be insane. Streaming 12-15 hours each day is daunting, so when does one find the time to fit in a workout? That's where the 30-minute marker comes in handy. "Were both very similar in that we work long days," Lex said. "Neither of us is willing to sacrifice much of that time to invest in working out, but we both know it would be smart to do so."

Lex is also sure to post updates via Twitch stream so be sure to check in for that. What do you think? Will both of them get it done or will fines be paid?
