Andy Lee Wins the Sydney Championships 6 Max (A$64,408)
Australia's Andy Lee, also known as Hun Wei Lee, finished on top of a 243-entrant field to win the 2018 Sydney Championships Event #6: A$1,100 No Limit Hold'em 6 Max at the Star Poker Room for A$64,408 ($47,697).
With the win, Lee is now approaching $1.4 million in live tournament cashes according to his two The Hendon Mob profile pages. This was also Lee's second final table appearance during the festival as just a few days ago he took eighth place in the Sydney Championships Event #4: A$5,000 No Limit Hold'em $5K Challenge for A$21,900 ($16,151).

The second and final day of the tournament began with Daniel Veljkovic in the chip lead and Lee not too far behind in third place among the 21 players remaining.
The seven-max final table began after John Rosario (eighth - A$7,173) jammed ace-six and wasn't able to improve against the pocket sevens held by Nick Velcic.
"I wanted to make amends in this 6 Max Event which is exactly what I did."
The final table was an all Aussie-affair. [Removed:3] kicked off the action in the lead with Berni Stang, Lee, and Veljkovic all close on his tail.
Stang's second-place stack didn't last long as he found himself the first player on the rail at the final table in seventh place for A$7,713 ($5,312). He flopped top pair with ace-queen on a queen-jack-two flop and three-bet jammed all-in. Lee held two pair with queen-two and found himself with a monster chip leading stack that he held for the rest of the way after his hand wasn't counterfeited on the turn or river.
Next to go was Nurlan Boobekov in sixth place for A$9,904 ($7,334) after his pocket tens were unable to out flip the big slick held by Velcic.
Shortly after, Gogia with seven-three flopped two-pair on a seven-three-four flop and got it all-in against Lee. Lee held seven-four for a better two pair, and Gogia was ousted in fifth place for A$13,812 ($10,228).
A few hands later Hauman Darbani was eliminated in fourth place for A$19,454 ($14,407) on a huge cooler. He called a three-bet jam from Velcic with pocket kings and was outmatched by the pocket aces held by Velcic.
Veljkovic then jammed with king-nine, and Velcic called with pocket sixes. A six spiked the flop to give Velcic a set and Veljkovic was eliminated in third place for A$27,682 ($20,500) after he was unable to get the pair of runners he needed on the turn and river.
Lee entered heads-up play with an almost 2:1 chip advantage over Velcic. Before long, Lee expanded his lead to a 6:1 advantage.
In the final hand, Lee with ten-four bet enough to put his opponent all-in on a two-ten-jack-six rainbow board. Velcic opponent called with ace-three and was eliminated in second place for A$39,822 ($29,490) after an ace didn't save him on the turn or river.
For Lee, the win not only represented a coveted trophy and nice haul but also redemption on not finishing higher than eighth place at the 5K Challenge.
"I was gutted," Lee said to the Star Poker Live Reporting Team about the 5K Challenge. "I put myself in a good spot to win the 5k event and to go out so quickly was disappointing. I wanted to make amends in this 6 Max Event which is exactly what I did."
