Next Friday, poker returns to Tennessee in the form of the Music City Shootout charity event to benefit Mother to Mother. Not only is the event expected to attract players from surrounding markets, but some special names are flying in to support the cause including 2004 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Greg Raymer, online poker pro Tara Cain, and poker power couple Chris Moorman and Katie Lindsay.

"We're excited to head to Nashville for what's shaping up to be a fun event, Moorman told PokerNews. I'm usually grinding online or battling live at events around the globe so it'll be a fun experience heading to Tennessee to play the Music City Shootout and raise some money for a good cause.

The charity event, which will take place at Clementine Hall at 4710 Charlotte Avenue, will kick off with player registration at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, October 19. The $300 buy-in poker tournament will then begin at 6 p.m. followed by cocktails and hors doeuvres at 6:30 p.m. and a silent auction and dinner a half hour after that. Those wishing to attend but not play the poker tournament can do so for $125.

Katie Lindsay: Chris and I are super competitive at the table, and were looking forward to mixing it up with some of Nashvilles best."

The poker tournament, which will award $10,000 to be used for a 2019 World Series of Poker Main Event buy-in, will raise money for Mother To Mother, a nonprofit that provides vital health, safety, and wellness items for infants and children in need.

"Mother To Mother is a worthwhile charity were thrilled to support, all while having a great time playing poker and competing for a seat into the $10,000 2019 WSOP Main Event, said Lindsay. Chris and I are super competitive at the table, and were looking forward to mixing it up with some of Nashvilles best."

Poker and Charity

This marks the first installment of the Music City Shootout in Nashville, but it isnt their first foray into poker. Event organizers previously hosted the Queen City Shootout at North Carolinas EpiCentre, an event Raymer attended.

That tournament raised net proceeds over $80,000 to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation Central & Western North Carolina Chapter. Among those to attend that event were Charlotte mayor Pat McCrory, WWE wrestling Hall of Famer Ric Flair and NFL Alumni Mike Fox, Frank Garcia, and Leonard Wheeler.

Ive never been there unless you count changing planes when flying Southwest, Raymer told PokerNews about heading to Nashville. I do recall some good BBQ at one of the airport restaurants though. Sadly, I cant look forward to much more than the charity event, as my plane lands a few hours before the event, and then I leave to fly home the next morning. I was thinking of stopping by the Antique Archeology store of American Pickers fame on my way from the airport to hotel though. Im a big fan of the show.

In addition to the Music City Shootout receiving player support, the upcoming event is sponsored in part by PokerStars, RunGoodGear, D&B Poker, FlopTheWorld, and Faded Spade Playing Cards.
