Sunday Briefing: Double Victory for Romanovsky

Three players walked away with six-figure additions to their bankrolls on Sep. 30 after the PokerStars Sunday Million ended in a three-handed chop. Who walked away with the lion��s share of the prize pool? Let��s find out.

PokerStars Sunday Million

A field of 5,779 took to the PokerStars virtual felt for this week��s edition of the $215 Sunday Million. They created a prize pool of $1,155,800 that was shared among the top 1,052 finishers, with a min-cash weighing in at $332 and $156,053 reserved for the champion.

China��s ��fuoliver�� was the unfortunate soul to burst the money bubble, their exit clearing the way for everyone to show a return on their investment.

$9,179 was the least anyone would take home by the time the nine-handed final table was reached. ��Csabesz3�� of Hungary busted in ninth-place for $9,179 and was the last player not to win at least five-figures. A pair of Russians, ��XnGo�� and ��Wizir�� fell in eighth and seventh-places for scores of $13,080 and $18,639 before one of two Brazilians, Regis ��capotinha�� Kogler, exited in sixth-place for a $26,560 addition to his bankroll.

The Faroe Islands may be tiny but they have produced a solid poker player in ��Mortan23.�� A PokerStars regular, Mortan23 saw their tournament end in a fifth-place finish worth $37,847.

It may have been a Chinese player who burst the money bubble, but ��chenrenqing�� made amends of their fellow country person by navigating their way to a fourth-place finish worth $53,931.

With only three players remaining, the tournament clock was paused and the final trio struck upon a deal that saw all of them win at least $100,000.

Romania��s ��ALIN76poker�� busted in third-place for $100,042 to leave Patrick "Egption" Tardif and Luiz Felipe "lftgjc" Sales to battle heads-up for the title. It was the latter, representing Brazil, who emerged victorious from the one-on-one battle to get their hands on $142,372 and leave Egption to collect the $100,000 consolation prize.

PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller

Another star-studded field of 117 players turned out for the $2,100 Sunday High Roller at PokerStars and created a $234,000 prize pool that was almost 2.5 times the size of the advertised guarantee.

Netherlands�� ��Naza114�� burst the money bubble, falling in 18th place after firing two bullets, paving the way for a score of at least $4,437 for the surviving 17 players. This sum increased to $5,750 by the time the final table was set and was the amount Stefan ��I��am_Sound�� Huber collected when they became the final table��s first casualty.

Nick ��Caecilius�� Petrangelo was the eighth-place finisher, a finish worth $7,559, while ��naliju90�� exited in seventh-place to turn $2,100 into $9,937.

Sixth and fifth-place were taken by two well-known poker pros. Jon ��apestyles�� Van Fleet busted in sixth to claim $13,063 and Gary ��quiditbear�� Hasson of Belgium secured a $17,173 score for their fifth-place finish.

Canada��s Sebastian ��p0cket00�� Sikorski broke through the $12 million of online winnings barrier with a $22,575 bankroll boost for finishing in fourth-place while Ukraine��s ��Remi Lebo_10�� netted $29,678 by busting in third.

Panama��s ��calitox�� and Slovakia-based Italian Dario ��Secret_M0d3�� Sammartino were the last two players standing. Sammartino may have been the more experienced of the two, but it was the Panamanian who triumphed in this encounter, scooping a cool $51,289 for their victory and resigning Sammartino to a $39,015 consolation prize.

partypoker Sunday Warm Up High Roller

Ukrainian star Roman ��SanityWaterline�� Romanovsky (photo) took down yet another major online poker tournament, this time the $1,050 buy-in Sunday Warm Up High Roller at partypoker.

Romanovsky got his hands on $41,825 of the $189,000 prize pool after outlasting 188 opponents, including ��orid74�� who was the tournament��s runner-up, a finish worth $30,051.

The eight-handed final table was tough and any of the eight players would have been a worthy champion. Kenny ��Spacey1891�� Hallaert crashed out in seventh-place to make the waters a little less shark infested and ��TullaMoreFan12�� busted in fifth-place for $10,962.

One of Sweden��s best, ��Algorhytm��, saw their Sunday Warm Up end in a third-place finish, meaning their $1,050 investment was now worth $21,924, but it was Romanovsky who shone the brightest to boost his lifetime winnings to more than $10.6 million.

partypoker Sunday Bounty Hunter High Roller Mix-Max Fast

The partypoker Sunday Bounty Hunter High Roller Mix-Max Fast saw 209 players part company with $1,050 to create a guarantee busting prize pool of $213,180 that was distributed among the top 24 finishers.

$104,500 was awarded from the main prize pool and an additional $108,680 was paid out in bounties.

The six-handed final table saw everyone lock up $4,180 plus at least $1,885 worth of bounties. ��GlobalHappiness�� busted in sixth-place for $4,180 and $3,136 from the bounty prize pool.

Fifth-place finisher ��MonkMode�� actually walked away with more money than ��geileaap�� who fell one place later thanks to claiming some higher value bounties along the way. MonkMode netted $13,907 with geileaap securing a $13,553 payout.

Heads-up was set when ��JimyTransaction�� fell by the wayside in third-place for a combined $16,241. ��BurgerMan41�� and ��savageplenty�� battled heads-up for the title and the largest share of the main prize pool. It was savageplenty who devoured BurgerMan41 to bank $26,027 plus $29,022 worth of bounties for a combined score worth a cool $55,049.

888poker $50,000 Whale

After taking down a Sunday major at partypoker, Roman ��Romeopro33�� Romanovsky triumphed in the 888poker $50,000 Whale to round off a very profitable night for the Ukrainian. Romanovsky came out on top of a compact field of 68 entrants to turn his $1,050 into $25,160.

Romanovsky��s heads-up opponent was ��Dioszilla�� of the United Kingdom who banked $17,000 for their bridesmaid finish. Another British player, ��radasahk��, fell in third-place for $10,200 and was the only other player to walk away with a five-figure score for their effort.

Shout outs also to ��StuntSoHard��, ��MisterN411�� and ��trino11�� who busted in placed third through sixth and were the other trio of players to get their hands on some of the $68,000 prize pool.

888poker $80,000 Sunday Mega Deep

Malta-based pro ��Ronaldo4112�� became an 888poker champion on Sep. 30 when he or she outlasted a field of 483 players in the $80,000 Sunday Mega Deep. It was a victory that saw their $215 buy-in turn into a much more substantial $18,837.

Another Maltese player, ��shadinho888�� was the eight-handed final table��s first casualty. A pair of Finns also navigated their way to the final table. One, ��MuckFest��, busted in fifth place for a $5,313 score with ��VALIUM4WIN�� playing their way to a runner-up finish worth $14,007.

VALIUM4WIN won the $50,000 Quarterback event at the XL Eclipse festival on Sep. 21 so it's safe to say he loves playing at 888poker.
