The second starting day of the 2018 World Series of Poker International Circuit $500 Opening Event at The Star in Sydney saw a slightly larger field emerge in the stunning poker room. After 12 levels of 40 minutes each, the tournament screens showed 301 entries, which boosts the total field to 597 entries.

Once again 56 players bagged up chips and it was Adam Ratten that jumped to the overall lead with 199,400, edging Nurlan Boobekov who claimed 178,200 and Nick Velcic with 169,500 rounding out the top three. Further big stacks include Shelly Pooley (148,000), Jesse Cochrane (139,400), Sean Dorgan (133,000) and Zac Duce (129,700). Richard Kellett (pictured above) also made it through with a stack of 139,200.

Antonis Toothpick Tony Kambouroglou finished Day 1b with a respectable 103,800 after making some miraculous calls throughout the day in tricky spots. Other notables that made it through include Suzy Khoueis (100,400), Dan Smith (63,600) and Jerome Tan (39,000).

In regards to Kambouroglou, he scored a big elimination in the penultimate level of the night. With around 50,000 already in the pot and the board showing 4?2?10?5?J?, Kambouroglou checked over to Andrew Hay who moved all in for his remaining 29,000 in chips. Kambouroglou pondered for a minute and called.

Hay reluctantly tabled his A?2? for a pair of deuces and eliminated when Kambouroglou flipped over 8?8? for a higher pair.

Some players too not make it through the day include; Andrew Scarf, Robert Damelian, Michael OGrady, Julian Powell, Reza Vakili, Chad Awerbuch and Daniel Laidlaw.
