European Poker Series Main Event

The European Poker Series (EPS) at King's Resort, located on the German border in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, is in full force with a handful of significant events already in the books and other big tournaments yet to come. The festival boasts more than 800,000 in guaranteed prize pools and five WSOP Europe 10,350 Main Event seats on April 25 to May 6.

GOMETZGER Wins the EPS Cup

The EPS Cup is one of the many events already finished. The tournament was accessible to any player featuring a very affordable 120 buy-in. The three opening flights on April 28-30 attracted 436 entries (277 entrants and 159 reentries) to create a 47,500 prize pool.

Surviving players returned to battle it out for one final day on May 1. The tournament ended in a seven-way deal at the final table with Spain's "GOMETZGER" being declared the official winner, taking home 7,799.

The other players involved in the deal were France's Raphael Roger Renard (second - 4,249), Georgia's Zurab Ejibia (third - 4,059), Belgium's Aliosha Staes (fourth - 4,018), Czech Republic's Simon Hajek (fifth - 3,284), Germany's Thomas Riebesam (sixth - 3,191), and Germany's "Ronaldini" (seventh - 3,046).

Still Time to Enter the EPS Main Event

The highlight of the festival, the EPS 550 Main Event on May 1-6 with a huge 441,400 guaranteed prize pool, has just begun. There is still plenty of time to enter with only one of the six opening flights to be played on May 1-6 already done.

The tournament is a deepstacked affair with players starting with 100,000 in chips, blinds increasing every 40-minutes, and unlimited reentries until the late-registration period ends at the end of Level 16, which coincides with the completion of the second blind level on Day 2 on May 5.

The tournament features a deeper structure after late registration closes with blinds increasing to 60 minutes in length. Players bagging chips on the penultimate day will come back on May 6 for one final day of action.

Slovakia's Peter Ralbovsky is currently topping the leaderboard after ending the Day 1A flight as the chip leader with 704,000 in chips, but this can quickly change before Day 2 with five more flights yet to be played.
