Sam Soverel kept up his incredible form in high roller events by taking down the $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha tournament at the 2019 Poker Masters. Soverels victory banked him $340,000 and the points earned see him climb to second in the overall championship.

3George WolffUnited States$136,000
4Kahle BurnsAustralia$85,000
5Anthony ZinnoUnited States$68,000

A compact yet stellar field bought into the $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event meaning only five places were paid. Current 2019 Poker Masters leader Chance Kornuth missed out on some additional leaderboard points when he fell in seventh-place at the hands of Sean Winter.

It was Ben Lamb who burst the money bubble. Lamb committed his stack with two pair and a straight draw only to lose to the turned straight of Winter. Lamb busted and the remaining five players locked up $68,000.

Anthony Zinno collected that $68,000 when he fell in fifth place. Zinno and Soverel clashed, both players flopping a straight but Zinno also having a straight draw. Soverel improved to a higher straight on the turn and it was curtains for Zinno.

Australian Kahle Burns then crashed out in fourth place, again at the hands of Soverel, before George Wolff, who won the 10,000 PLO event at the British Poker Open, fell by the wayside in third. Wolff got his short stack into the middle against Winter and flopped trips only for Winter to improve to a straight on the turn and heads-up was set.

Winter held a 2:1 chip lead over Soverel but a player of Soverels quality never gives up. Soverel fought back and on the final hand raised with jack-nine-six-four and Winter called with ace-king-ten-eight. A king-six-six flop saw both players check with Winter leading on the deuce turn. Soverel raised pot, Winter called all and failed to improve further to fall in second place.

Only 60 points are separating Kornuth and Soverel although that gap will shorten as Soverel has reached the final table of Event #8: $25,000 No-Limit Holdem. Exciting times are ahead.
